Jesse Alden Thompson, 67, of Ashford, WV, passed away February 14, 2023, after a brave, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jesse was born June 21, 1955, to Jack and Dolores Thompson of Marmet, WV. A proud UMWA member and journeyman electrician, Jesse retired from Arch Coal after 25 years in coal mining. He also recently retired from a second career at Chemours in 2022.
Jesse enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, but he was most in love with his family. He is survived by his wife, Eva; his daughters, Brigitte (Luke) Carney, Kelly (Kristofer) Thompson, and Jessica (Jerry) Hill; his grandchildren, Abigail, Brooke, Levi, and Preston; his brother, Ronnie (Carol) Thompson; and his sister, Gilda Thompson.
The family would like to thank the staff at CAMC Cancer Center for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be officiated by Jesse’s dear friend Richard Harold at noon Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Rumble Community Baptist Church in Ashford where Jesse attended. Friends and family may visit one hour prior.
Sorry for the loss of Jessie he was a great friend and coworker, my deepest sympathies to the family
JT had a profound impact on my life and career. I was a young engineer displaced from the northeast in 2008, and he quickly took me under his wing both at and outside of work. I’ve refered to Eva and Jesse as my “WV mom and dad” ever since, and he will be sorely missed. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
So sorry for the loss of Jesse. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
My deepest sympathies to the family in the passing of Jesse, one of the most helpful work mates that I ever had. Our gospel conversations were refreshing, and I expect to see him in Glory.
