Dwight and I go back at least 30 years. I have considered him a friend, and I hope he felt the same about me. He was an interesting and unique guy. I know he tried to help his community back when Jay Rockefeller was a young man and he was involved in projects that helped Emmons. He is probably the only person in the world who had a part-time job of transporting ostrich eggs from Charleston to Parkersburg weekly, then bringing back newly hatched 8 inch baby ostriches. I called him the “Ostrich Stork” for delivering so many newly-hatched baby ostriches to me, as I was the guy that hired him for this unusual job back in the 1990s. In the years since then he and I have spoken many times when he was trying to help his kids or friends on various things. The world would be a better place if more people tried to help their family, friends and community like Dwight did. He will be missed by many.
