Priscilla “Doll” Ruth Hoffman

August 8th, 2022 | Posted by curryfuneralhome in Obituaries

Priscilla “Doll” Ruth Hoffman, 96, of Alum Creek, WV, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Sue Blair.

She was born to the late John and Bertha Hudson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, “her honey”, George Hoffman, her daughter, Sharon Hoffman, her son, Ronnie Hoffman, daughter-in-law, Sue Hoffman, sons-in-law, Gary Blair and John Lett.

She lived the life of a Proverbs 31 woman: “doing her husband good, working willingly with her hands, looking well to the ways of her household, and speaking with wisdom and kindness.”

She was a homemaker and a mother of 7 children. She spent many days getting the children ready for school and tending to chores such as milking the cows, washing the clothes on a washboard, and cooking 3 meals a day for a family of 9. Once her children were grown, she enjoyed spending time crafting, quilting, embroidering, sewing, crocheting, painting, playing the guitar, and reading.

She was always ready to share how “The Good Lord” had taken care of her. She would often be found praying for her family, and her testimony in her last days was that she could still talk to the Lord. She attended McCorkle FWB church, and she loved her church family.

She is survived by 5 children, Terry (Shirley) Hoffman of Nitro, WV, Beverly Sue Blair of South Charleston, WV, Dean Hoffman of Cross Lanes, WV, Dana (Darlene) Hoffman of Alum Creek, WV, and Debbie Lett of St. Albans, WV, one daughter-in-law, Lois Hoffman of Nitro, WV, siblings, Mitchell (Charlotte) Hudson and Vallie Hudson, and sister-in-law, Martha Hudson.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston with Pastors Isaiah Hatfield and Craig Gillenwater officiating.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice, especially nurses Kayla, Jennifer, Ashley, and Chris. They went above and beyond their jobs. Also, thanks to the staff of Kindred at Home. The family holds a special appreciation for the care their mother received from her daughter, Sue Blair, and her grandson, Gary Ed Blair.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to God’s Heart Food Bank, c/o McCorkle FWB Church, 175 McCorkle Road, Sod, WV 25564.
