Victoria Ranae Simmons, 67, of Tornado, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2021.  Her husband was at her side at the time of her death.  She fought courageously a long illness for several years.  She spent her life with children always by her side.  She and her husband cared for foster children for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen Earl Hughes and Janice Ilene Hughes.

Victoria is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Dave Simmons, her children David (Katie) Simmons of St. Albans, Cory Simmons of Tornado, Stephen (Whitney) Simmons of St. Albans, Sara (Michele) Simmons of Salt Rock, Amy (Josh) Bucklen of Cross Lanes, Richard Simmons of St Albans, Kimmy (Jake) Stevens of St Albans, and Samuel Simmons of Tornado.

She is also survived by her brothers Glen (Lisa) Hughes of Sumerco, Shawn (Beth) Hughes of Sod, sister Glenna Hughes of Charleston, and sister in law Lynn (Kirk) Tabor of Nitro.  Her grandchildren who were everything to her are Austin, Cory Michael, Zack, Madison, Kaitlyn, Sarai, Austin, Tanner, Cooper, Lydia, Marlee, and Parker.

A celebration of Victoria’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Maranatha Fellowship Church, 2910 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV with Pastor Darren Powell and Pastor Terry Hogue officiating.

We would like to thank Joni Olson of Tornado for being a caregiver, Charleston Hospice for the passion and care that was given,  Maranatha Fellowship for being so considerate and understanding to Dave for these last several years, and Curry Funeral Home for everything they have done for our family over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made toward funeral expenses

Vickie was an extremely special person. One of my fondest memories was when I stayed the summer with Dave and Vickie when I was 13. I always called her Aunt Vickie even though we were cousins. May the Lord give you comfort at this time knowing that she is with him now and no longer hurting. Love you Dave and am thinking of you at this time.

I met Vicky when she was not well. The Lord asked her to carry a heavy Cross. She did that with dignity and with a smile on her face. RIP
