Charles Darren Roberts

May 6th, 2020 | Posted by curryfuneralhome in Obituaries

Charles Darren Roberts, 45, of Alum Creek, WV, died on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Louise Roberts.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kayla Roberts and Emilee Roberts; two sisters, Tammy (Jerry) Rakes and Kathy (John) Hudson; one brother, Kenny (Lee) Roberts; three nephews, Edwin (Andrea) Neal, Morgan and Garrett Roberts; one niece, Torie Walker; one great-niece, Lila Neal.

Through it all, Darren  truly loved his daughters, family, and friends.  Darren’s contagious smile, good sense of humor, and compassionate heart made him a joy to be around.  He will be missed by many.

His favorite verse from the Bible was Matthew 6:14, “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

For the safety of friends and loved ones during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family has chosen not to have a service at this time.  Darren would have wanted everyone to be “Safer at Home”, so we ask that you may think of a special time that you shared together, a memory to honor him.

A celebration of his life will be held on a later date.

I thought about him a lot lately. It’s so sad he left too soon. For any of you didn’t know this, I have visited him in jail and his apt in west side. We talked for hours and wrote many letters. We went out eat at Taco Bell. I also visited him at McDonalds where he worked. When I go in and he sees me, his smile so big He had real sweetest smile with beautiful eyes knowing he had a big heart. Every time, I see him, he always said “Thank you for your heart. Thank you for being a great friend”. I will miss hearing this from him. We made a promise.. I plan to keep my promise. The promise was to continually to forgive people and be happy.
Love you, my friend Darren.

We are so sorry about Darren. We loved him so much. We have shared so many laughs and fun times over the years. When Darren was younger, he use to come to our house all the time with Jeff. We had a tiny doggy named Rambo. Richard had Darren and Jeff splitting wood for him. Jeff had already got here , but Darren hadn’t got here yet. Rambo was on the porch barking. Here come Darren down the road, he took off running. Jeff said, Darren , where you going ?? Darren said, that dog talllllkkked. Jeff said, what did Rambo say ?? Darren said, he said, I’m gonna get you Darren. We laughed about that every time we saw him. Definitely going to miss him and that sweet smile he had. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, love you guys.

Darren you will surely be missed! It’s been really sad not being able to say “hey Melinda you going over to talk to Darren later” it still seems like one bad dream, and we are hoping we could wake up and it not be true! These past few months I hadn’t seen Melinda so happy like the way you made her happy! Not that I can replace you, but I will help her get through this! RIP we will always love and miss you!

Darren was my close friend. His smile was the best. I can close my eyes and see his smiling face. He helped me through so much. Thank you darren for always being there for me and for showing me true love. My life will never be the same. I’ll make you proud. Praying for tammy and jerry.
