Betty Jean Staggs, 84, of Ballard Road, Alum Creek, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday April 18, 2020 at Putnam Center, Hurricane, WV, after a long battle with dementia.
Betty was born and raised in Cabin Creek and was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and aunt. She will be remembered walking, singing and checking on her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William R. Stone and Bronson Holstein, parents, Dewey Staggs and Opal Virginia Browning, her sister, Doris (Mason) Kirk and son, Samuel Sambo Staggs and niece, Marie Holstein.
She is survived by her children, Roger Dale Stone, Dempsey Browning, and Donna Gibson. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, Alpha Pauley, Debbie Kirk and nephew, Mason “Hot Rod” Kirk.
Private funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Mike Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Cemetery, Winifrede, WV.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Genesis Putnam Center for their love and compassion.
