John was an excellent fiddle player and entertainer. He was a good friend to me when I was still living in McCorkle. I remember a time in 1969 I was struggling financially and couldn’t even afford to have my shoes repaired and one day when I stopped in to chat with him, he handed me a brand new pair of shoes. That was the kind of man he was. I will always have fond memories of my friendship with John.
