Rev. James Allen Webb, 92, of Alum Creek, went home to the Lord Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice West in South Charleston.
He was born March 30, 1927 in Kentucky to the late Clayton J. and Grace Blevins Webb and was the last survivor of seven children. The family moved to Olcott so their dad could work in the coal mines. Jimmy attended school thru junior high. During those years he remembered playing games that all children enjoyed, this is when he discovered a love for baseball. He was part of the team called the Holstine Hollow Boys!
He later went to a trade school and became a welder. Jimmy worked in the mines for 20 years, at first welding and later removing the coal. In 1950, he married Kathryn Campbell. They were blessed with two daughters, Diana Sue and Judith Lynn. Five years later the wife and children moved to Boise, Idaho. After that he went through many hardships, and an accident left him in the hospital very broken. Jimmy prayed to receive Christ as his Saviour and his life was changed. He decided that he wanted to live his life for the Lord.
Jimmy worked at Rose’s Shopping Center. He taught himself to play the guitar and became a preacher. God restored his relationship with his daughters, and gave him joy and a purpose in living. He took care of his sister, Pauline, until she needed to go to an assisted living facility where he contiued to visit her.
His life included family, church family and many friends. His joy was reading the Word of God, preaching and serving others. He will be remembered for the many lives he touched while here on earth, but he always kept his eyes on his heavenly home.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Mike Graley officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum in South Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Rest In Peace Jimmy, you were a great man of God. Many fond memories over the years . Our thoughts and prayers for the family.
I went to church with him my whole life.
Went to church with him for years at olcott. He loved my grandson. At first Preston would talked him just stand in front of him, each time we attended church he woul gear closer and finally sat on his lap.When he took a snack with hi him to church he would always say Jimmy one. They had a great bond and memories will always be there. Jimmy Webb a great man who loved GOd. Now he can stroll all over heaven with his friends and family. And finally see Jesus. You made it home brother Jimmy.
Rip Jimmy Webb. I will never forget you.
I can’t remember a time Jimmy wasn’t part of my life.He will be dearly missed.
