DONNIE L. BYRD, 63, OF SO. CHARLESTON DIED FRIDAY, MAY 24, 1996 AT THOMAS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN SO. CHARLESTON AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS.
HE WAS AN AIRFORCE VETERAN OF THE KOREAN CONFLICT. A FORMER EMPLOYEE OF THE WV DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND HAD ALSO WORKED IN A CONSTRUCTION CREW AT CARBIDE.
HE IS SURVIVED BY: 2 SONS: RICKY PATE OF LINCOLN COUNTY; MARK CORNELL OF CARRSVILLE, VA; 2 DAUGHTERS: DEBBIE RAINES OF WARREN, OH; SUSAN OLIN BOTH OF WARREN, OH; 3 BROTHERS: PAUL BYRD OF SHREVEPORT, LA; GENE BYRD OF SO. CHARLESTON, WV; GARY BYRD OF SO CHARLESTON, WV; 4 SISTERS: GARNET SEEM – ADDRESS UNKNOWN JUNE TAYLOR OF ST. ALBANS, WV; DREAMA SLOAN OF ST. ALBANS, WV; DORIS MANBEVERS OF SO. CHARLESTON, WV; 10 GRANDCHILDREN 1 GREAT GRANDCHILD MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS
SERVICES WILL BE 2:00 PM MONDAY, MAY 27, 1996 AT THE CURRY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL IN ALUM CREEK WITH REV. BYRON HISSOM OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN AKERS FAMILY CEMETERY AT SO. CHARLESTON WITH MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES CONDUCTED BY THE ALUM CREEK VFW POST #4768. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 7 TO 9 PM ON SUNDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
