BUTCH CANTERBURY, 49, OF ALUM CREEK DIED WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27, 1996 AT HOME AFTER A LONG ILLNESS.
HE WAS RETIRED FROM CORRUGATED DISPLAYS IN NEW JERSEY WHERE HE WAS VICE PRESIDENT OF MANUFACTURING. HE WAS A MASON, SHRINER, A MEMBER OF LEGION OF HONOR, SCOTTISH RITE, A MEMBER OF THE COMMANDERY, EASTERN STAR, AND A MEMBER OF THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH. HE WAS VIETNAM WAR VETERAN WHERE HE SERVED AS AN OPERATIONAL SPECIALIST WITH B52 AND B56. HE WAS A LIFE MEMBER OF THE SPECIAL FORCES ASSOCIATION AT FORT BRAGG, NC. HE WAS CO-FOUNDER OF A VET CENTER IN CHICAGO, IL CALLED VetWorks.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, LOU; 1 DAUGHTER: CRYSTAL CANTERBURY OF HOME; MOTHER: DORA CANTERBURY OF IL;
SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT CURRY FUNERAL HOME, ALUM CREEK, ON SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 1996 AT 11:00 AM WITH PASTOR FRANK CHAPMAN AND PASTOR BUSBY OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE HELD AT ORCHARD HILLS MEMORY GARDENS, YAWKEY WITH MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 7 TO 8:30 PM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 1996 AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
