JAMES CLARENCE SMITH, 62, OF TORNADO DIED SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 1997 AT THE HOME OF HIS SON, JAMES C. SMITH, JR. OF WALKERSVILLE, AFTER A LONG ILLNESS.
HE WAS A RETIRED EQUIPMENT OPERATOR FOR THE CITY OF ST. ALBANS PUBLIC WORKS WITH 25 YEARS SERVICE AND HE WAS AN ARMY VETERAN.
HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS: 2 SONS: ROBERT SMITH OF SOD, WV; JOHN SMITH OF ST. ALBANS, WV; 1 DAUGHTER: LESLIE COWSKY OF TN; 2 BROTHERS: PAUL SMITH OF TORNADO, WV; DONALD SMITH OF TORNADO, WV; 3 SISTERS: DELORES PETRY OF ST. ALBANS, WV; LENORA SHOEMAKER OF MO; BARBARA LESTER OF ID; 12 GRANDCHILDREN.
SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT CURRY FUNERAL HOME, ALUM CREEK, ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 1997 AT 2:00 PM WITH PASTOR BUTCH LEADMAN OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE HELD IN SMITH FAMILY CEMETERY, TORNADO. FRIENDS MAY CALL ON MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 1997 FROM 7 TO 8:30 PM.
