MR. FRED LEE HUGHES, 70, OF PEYTONA WENT HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD MONDAY, JULY 7, 1997 AT HOME AFTER A LONG ILLNESS.

HE WAS A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN, A WWII ARMY VETERAN, A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BOONE COUNTY, A RETIRED COAL MINER FROM EASTERN ASSOCIATED COAL CORPORATION AT BARRETT WHERE HE WORKED AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, AND HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE UMWA.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS: WIFE: NETTIE “DUCKIE” MILLER HUGHES; 3 SONS: MICHAEL HUGHES OF PEYTONA, WV; GEORGE HUGHES OF PEYTONA, WV; DANNY HUGHES OF ALUM CREEK, WV; 3 DAUGHTERS: FREEDA CROCKETT OF KENNA, WV; GLORIA JEAN PAULEY OF JULIAN, WV; DESSIE LOVEJOY OF WOODVILLE, WV; 2 SISTERS: REBA BENTLEY OF ALKOL, WV; ELSIE LEGG OF CHARLESTON, WV; 14 GRANDCHILDREN; 12 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

SERVICES WILL BE 1:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 1997 AT THE CURRY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, ALUM  CREEK WITH PASTOR DWIGHT MCCLURE AND REV. DAVID COOK OFFICIATING.  BURIAL WILL BE IN THE MILLER FAMILY CEMETERY AT ELY. FRIENDS  MAY CALL FROM 6 TO 9 PM ON TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
