Eunice “Karen” Dunlap 65 of Alum Creek died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Belmont, Mississippi after a battle with lung cancer.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter Shirley.

She was a member of McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and also attended Maranatha Fellowship.

Karen is survived by her daughters; Rhonda McNeil of Charlotte, North Carolina, Teresa Anderson of Alum Creek, Crystal Harrison of Clinton, North Carolina, Kim Montgomery and Sarah Nelson both of Belmont, Mississippi. One  sister; Adene Barker of Alum Creek and two brothers; William “Billy” Moore of Alum Creek, and Robert “Bobby” Moore of Houston, Texas, and her loving 14 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June8, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park So. Charleston. Family and  friends may gather from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Enolia Moore Rhodes

Enolia Moore Rhodes, 95, of St. Albans, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness.

In 1932 she started teaching in Lincoln County, Washington District for seven years.  In 1942 she taught in the Kanawha County school system in the St. Albans area and remained there until she became principal of the Aetna Dale Elementary in the North Charleston area.  She later retired from Alban Elementary as principal in 1970.  She was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Rhodes in 1985; parents, Herbert and Ina Griffith Moore; brothers, Bernard, Clinton, Douglas, Everett and David Moore; sister, Leota Moore Dunlap; nephews, Rick, Jerry and Jeff Moore; special niece, Joy Pack.

She is survived by her brothers, Haskell Moore of Spring Hill, William W. Moore of St. Albans, and Gerald R. Moore of Alum Creek; sisters, Janice Moore Becher of South Charleston and Ethel Lee Pack of South Charleston; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Delores Martin and Stacey Ramella both of St. Albans.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Rev. Glenn Matthews officiating.  Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. There will not be a visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.

Norma “Faye” Stewart, 83, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 31, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with a 2 month illness.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have keep the faith.”

“Enter thou unto the joy of the Lord!”

Faye was welcomed home by her husband of 53 years, Woodrow “Woody” Stewart, her parents Beulah and Luther Adkins; her sisters Margie, Nina and Charlene, her brothers Jim and Denver; and Woody’s parents Ben and Ida Stewart.

She was a graduate of Washington District High School, a devoted homemaker and an active member of Mountain Heights Church, the Joy Club Bible Study and the Freedom Bowling League. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; a kind and devoted friend and neighbor.

Faye is survived by her brother, Wayne and his wife Kay of Vero Beach, FL; her son Jerry Stewart and his wife Mollie, her son Jimmy Stewart and his wife Kathy, her daughter Beverly Samples and her husband Bud, all of South Charleston; her grandchildren Brent (Sharon) Samples, Becky (Kevin) Tucker, Ben (Nadya) Samples, Jason (Andrea) Stewart and Jeannie (Joe) Lude; great-grandchildren Aaron and Lydia Faye Tucker, Cadence and Kennedy Stewart and Brianna and Scottie Lude; and her great friend Eloise Dunlap.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday June 4, 2008 at 11:00 am at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with the Reverend Benny Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Family and friends may gather from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Flowers are always appreciated, but memorial donations may also be made to Mountain Heights Church, 1201 Chestnut Street, South Charleston, WV 25309.

Audra A. Perry

Audra A. Perry, 65, of St. Albans, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at Hubbard Hospice House after a 3 year battle with breast cancer.

She retired from the St. Albans Water Company and worked part time in Dr Conley’s office. She was an active member of St. Peters United Methodist Church.

Audra was preceded in death by her husband Paul A. “Sonny” Perry and her father Charles C. “Curly” Barnette.

She is survived by her mother; Elizabeth Barnette of St. Albans; her children and the spouses; Leslie and Dan McCormick of Liberty, Susan and Chris Lansdale of Teays Valley, and Paul and Sonora Perry of Cross Lanes.

Six grandchildren; Briana Barnett, Anthony Perry, Ricky Barnett, Cassandra Perry, Samantha Lansdale and Elizabeth McCormick.

Sister; Mary Jane Roach of Winfield; and many-many devoted friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 3ed at 4:00 PM at St Peters United Methodist Church in St. Albans with Rev. James H. Reed officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Peters United Methodist building fund, 2601 Forrestal Ave. St. Albans, WV 25177 or Hospice Care 1143 Dunbar Ave. Dunbar, WV 25064.

Ronald L. “Ronnie” Pauley, 51 of Dayton, OH, died Friday in Dayton after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Pauley, Jr. and Betty Clark Burchett.

He was an auto parts salesperson.

3 brothers: David of Vandalia, Ohio

Charles and  Lawrence both of Dayton

Sister: Carol Greene of Dayton

Step-father: Noah Burchett of Florida

Macil V. Brammer, 80, of Ridgeview, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Brammer, Jr. and her daughter, Wanda Faye Prine.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Brammer; sister, Gladys McCallister; 3 brothers, James,  Arley  and Shelvy Treadway; four grandchildren, Burley and Greg Mullins, Charles Edward Brammer and Perry Prine; five great grandchildren, Kimberly Ann, Meghan, Burley Charles, Dominic and Skiler.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Garry Bowman and  F. A. Giles officiating.  Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Elsie L. Thomas,  93, of Griffithsville, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Cuba Thomas, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Thomas; two sisters, Jewel and Bonnie; and two brothers, Walton and Orville.

She was a member of the Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod, and a retired elementary school teacher for Lincoln County with 40 years of service.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Paul and Cuba Thomas of Griffithsville; granddaughter,

Paula Denise Pauley (Tony Hager) of Charleston; grandson and his wife, Rickey R. and Christi Thomas of Arizona; sister, Mabel Mason of North Carolina; two brothers, Eldon “Buddy” and Wilford Smith of Beckley; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with  Pastor Robert Leadman officiating.  Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cathy Ann Walls

Cathy Ann Walls, 56 of Morrisvale, went home to be with the Lord  Friday, May 9, 2008 at CAMC Memorial Division with loving  family & friends by her bedside.

She was a member of Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Morrisvale and was an employee of Sam’s Club in the bakery for 14 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie & Annie Clark.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ricky.

Jodie Walls (fiancé,  Brandon)

Sister: Janet Collins (Danny)

2 Brothers: Terry and David Clark

½ sister: Rebecca Riedel (Paul)

She will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.

Service will be 1:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors David Bowman & Mike Kordusky officiating.  Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends may call from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
