Delores Ann Hill, 86, of South Charleston, WV went home to be with The Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020 at home after a long illness.

Delores received a Master of Arts from WVU in 1960. She was a teacher/principal at Gillispie Elementary School and then to Ashford-Rumble with 33 years of service. Delores was a member of Brier Creek Baptist Church and a former longtime member of the Alum Creek Lioness Club where she received the Leonard Jarrett Award.

Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Lenzy Meickles and Katherine Harrison Meickles; brother, Tommy Meickles; sisters, Mona Barnhart, Pinkie Harless, Vada Mooney, Dorothy Thaxton, and Ella Rae Myers.

She is survived by her husband, Roberts Hill, whom she married December 25, 1953; sister, Becky Phipps; brother, Lenzy (Brenda) Meickles, and many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Sisk officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, in Alum Creek, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Omar “Omer” Cline Estep, 85, of Yawkey, WV passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Melech Covid Hospice House in Tampa, Florida from complications of Covid-19.

Omar was born on June 13, 1935, son of the late Fount & Pearl (McCallister) Estep in Alkol, WV. Omar was the youngest child and preceded in death by 5 brothers and 7 sisters, his grandson Matthew Paul Estep and his former wife and mother of Mike, Gatha Irene Estep.

Surviving are his loving sons: Mike (Janine) Estep and the lights of his life, his grandchildren Megan and Michael (Mikey) all of St Albans, WV; Patrick (Betty) Clark and grandchildren Christopher and Candice all of Columbia, SC; daughter, Holly (Chris) Price and his grandchildren Senca and Shaelyn all of Brevard NC. Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who he left a lasting impact on, especially his niece, Susie Dunlap, who was always there for him.

Omar attended Duval High School where he played basketball and football. He then joined the Army at the age of 17 in 1953 and obtained the rank of Corporal and served his country overseas in France until 1956. He continued to serve with the US Army Reserves from 1956 to 1959, he then served with the 130th Air Base Squadron till June 1960 as Staff Sergeant. Omar graduated in 1958 with his welding certification. He also served his community as a Justice of the Peace and Magistrate for Lincoln County, WV. He retired in 1998 from the Plumber Pipefitter Local 625 where he had been a member for over 50 years. Omar was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association, Airstream Club, Veteran of Foreign Wars and Scottish Rite Mason as a 14 degree for over fifty years. Omar was a proud Veteran and loved his country and would often be seen wearing his signature “USA” shirt. He loved to go out dancing and made many friends along the way.

Omar’s passion was farming, where he proudly raised Pinzgauer Cattle. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing with his son Mike and grandson Mikey. He spent many hunting seasons and made many memories with Mike and Mikey. After retirement he became a snowbird and spent the winters exploring different parts of Florida in his Airstream and would return home to is beloved West Virginia in the summers. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Megan, and he cherished her trips to Florida. He spent his later years surrounded by many friends in Florida, especially by Rosemary Natoli-Colavito, Fran Pauley, and Bernie, who he cared deeply for.

Memorial Service will be at 4:00pm Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Military Honors provided by Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Burial will be held at a later date. Per Omar’s wishes he was cremated.

The family will be having a Celebration of Omer’s Life following the service at Mountain Pie Company on the River in St. Albans for dinner and to share stories and memories of Omar, all are welcome to attend.

Vickie Lynn McCoy, 61, of Sod, WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2020 after a six-year, hard fought battle with ovarian cancer.  Anyone who was blessed to know her knew she was a very strong woman.  She fought a good fight, she finished her course, and she kept her unwavering faith.  She was a faithful member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Moore. 

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 42 years Carl; daughter Andi (Jason) Byrd; son, Joshua (Ashley) McCoy; and daughter Shelley (Casey) Campbell; grandchildren Isaac and Halli Jo Byrd, Hunter, Carley, and Colbi Campbell, and Josey Lyn McCoy; her mother Janis Moore; siblings Ginny Brogan (Paul) and Lee (Meredith) Moore.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends, and a large extended family.

The family would like to give special thanks to her Johns Hopkins medical team and Cabell Huntington Oncology Group, oncology unit, and infusion center.

Dorsel “Tuck” Lovejoy, 88, of Elloree, SC, formerly of Alum Creek, WV, went home to be with The Lord Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.

He was a member of Forks of Coal Baptist Church in Alum Creek and attended Bible Baptist Church in Santee after moving to Elloree. After retiring from Union Carbide as a supervisor, he continued his water well drilling business for 8 years. Tuck was passionate about gardening and loved to fish. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4768 in Alum Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Watson and Julia Jarrell Lovejoy; 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Tuck is survived by his wife, Marietta Neal Lovejoy; sons, Greg (Violet) and Keith (Debbie); brother, George Lovejoy; grandchildren, Neal Lovejoy (Katie), Krista Lucas, Cody Lovejoy, Addison Briggs (Judy), Krystal Hamilton (Blake); great grandchildren, Jacey Lovejoy, Clay Lovejoy, Kylie Lovejoy, Alyssa Briggs, Collin Briggs, Camille Briggs, Madison Briggs, Blakely Hamilton, Liam Hamilton.

Service will be at 3 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2020 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Keith George officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery in Alum Creek.

Brenda Kay (Cobb) Kidd, of Surfside Beach, SC, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on August 10, 2020.  Brenda was born on July 22, in Charleston, West Virginia.  Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Moore, her stepmother, Valley Cobb, and step-brother Paul McCallister (Megan).

In 1984, she moved to Myrtle Beach where she lovingly raised her three children, Jamon, Jimmy and Jessica. As a beloved member of Discover Church, she lived a fulfilling life of serving our Lord, while pursuing her passion in music and singing. She had an infectious smile that would light up the room and the ability to welcome everyone with open arms, as if she never met a stranger. Everyone that got the privilege to meet her, loved her. Some of Brenda’s most enjoyable moments were spent with her grandchildren. She had a special bond with each one and spoiled them all absolutely rotten. She was the most beautiful soul inside and out. Brenda was the light in her families’ lives and the world just seems a little bit darker without her in it. She will be dearly missed.

Brenda is survived by her beloved fiancé, Allen Adair; her sons, Jamon Banks; Jimmy Kidd (Joy); and Austin Adair; daughter, Jessica Richardson (Scott); her father, Ross “Sam” Cobb Jr.; brother, Sammy “Bo” Cobb (Kim); sister, Misty Shumate; her grandchildren, Jacob, Jaidyn, Dallas, Tyler, and Camryn.

She is also survived by her step-brothers and step-sisters, Charles McCallister (Amy), Angel Chinn (Steve), Sandie Davidson (Jimmy), Sarah Breedlove (Chuck, deceased), Robert McCallister (Rita), and Kerry McCallister (Darlene).

Services were 2:00pm on Thursday August 13, 2020, at Burroughs Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, SC.  Graveside service with Pastor Robert McCallister officiating will be 2:00pm Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, West Virginia.  Local arrangements are in the care of Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, WV.

Rosemary Elaine Pauley, 64, of Alum Creek, formerly of Woodville, WV,  went home to the Lord Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville, WV.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Maxie and Irene Price Pauley.

She is survived by her sisters Linda Bode, Helen Elkins, and Anna Ruth Duffer; brother Herbie (Sherry) Pauley; brother-in-law, Gary (Liz) Bode; several nieces, nephews, and family that will greatly miss her.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.   The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Paulette “Pardy” Yvonne Kinzer Flowers, 82, of Scott Depot, WV, went home Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Putnam Center in Scott Depot.

She was affiliated with the Church of God.  Pardy  loved her family, the outdoors, gardening, camping and crocheting.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Kenneth; twin brother, Paul Kinzer; sister, Brenda Layne; special friend, Jonathan “J.T.” Tyler, who was like a son; and several nieces and nephews.  

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Mark Thaxton officiating.  Burial will follow at Tudor Cemetery in South Charleston.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Julie Marie Baysden, 65, of Brandon, FL, went home Saturday, July 18, 2020.

She was a Registered Nurse.

Julie was predeceased by her parents, John and Freda Baysden.

There will be no service.

Orville Nunn, 87, of Sod, WV, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at home.

He was the owner and operator of Lincoln Roofing Co., and a member of the Church of Christ.

Orville was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stone Nunn and Bertha Nunn, five brothers and four sisters. 

Orville is survived by one brother, Dell Nunn; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Nunn.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service.  A private burial will be at Watts Cemetery, Sod, WV.
