Brenda Kay Cobb Kidd

Brenda Kay (Cobb) Kidd, of Surfside Beach, SC, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on August 10, 2020.  Brenda was born on July 22, in Charleston, West Virginia.  Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Moore, her stepmother, Valley Cobb, and step-brother Paul McCallister (Megan).

In 1984, she moved to Myrtle Beach where she lovingly raised her three children, Jamon, Jimmy and Jessica. As a beloved member of Discover Church, she lived a fulfilling life of serving our Lord, while pursuing her passion in music and singing. She had an infectious smile that would light up the room and the ability to welcome everyone with open arms, as if she never met a stranger. Everyone that got the privilege to meet her, loved her. Some of Brenda’s most enjoyable moments were spent with her grandchildren. She had a special bond with each one and spoiled them all absolutely rotten. She was the most beautiful soul inside and out. Brenda was the light in her families’ lives and the world just seems a little bit darker without her in it. She will be dearly missed.

Brenda is survived by her beloved fiancé, Allen Adair; her sons, Jamon Banks; Jimmy Kidd (Joy); and Austin Adair; daughter, Jessica Richardson (Scott); her father, Ross “Sam” Cobb Jr.; brother, Sammy “Bo” Cobb (Kim); sister, Misty Shumate; her grandchildren, Jacob, Jaidyn, Dallas, Tyler, and Camryn.

She is also survived by her step-brothers and step-sisters, Charles McCallister (Amy), Angel Chinn (Steve), Sandie Davidson (Jimmy), Sarah Breedlove (Chuck, deceased), Robert McCallister (Rita), and Kerry McCallister (Darlene).

Services were 2:00pm on Thursday August 13, 2020, at Burroughs Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, SC.  Graveside service with Pastor Robert McCallister officiating will be 2:00pm Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, West Virginia.  Local arrangements are in the care of Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, WV.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Discover Church, 700 HWY 17 South, Lorraine Plaza, Suite E, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.

Rosemary Elaine Pauley

Rosemary Elaine Pauley, 64, of Alum Creek, formerly of Woodville, WV,  went home to the Lord Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville, WV.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Maxie and Irene Price Pauley.

She is survived by her sisters Linda Bode, Helen Elkins, and Anna Ruth Duffer; brother Herbie (Sherry) Pauley; brother-in-law, Gary (Liz) Bode; several nieces, nephews, and family that will greatly miss her.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.   The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Paulette “Pardy” Yvonne Kinzer Flowers, 82, of Scott Depot, WV, went home Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Putnam Center in Scott Depot.

She was affiliated with the Church of God.  Pardy  loved her family, the outdoors, gardening, camping and crocheting.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Kenneth; twin brother, Paul Kinzer; sister, Brenda Layne; special friend, Jonathan “J.T.” Tyler, who was like a son; and several nieces and nephews.  

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Mark Thaxton officiating.  Burial will follow at Tudor Cemetery in South Charleston.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Union Mission, P. O. Box 112, Charleston, WV 25321 on her behalf.

We would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Putnam Center Staff for treating her like family during her visit there.

Julie Marie Baysden

She was a Registered Nurse.

Julie was predeceased by her parents, John and Freda Baysden.

There will be no service.

Orville Nunn

Orville Nunn, 87, of Sod, WV, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at home.

He was the owner and operator of Lincoln Roofing Co., and a member of the Church of Christ.

Orville was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stone Nunn and Bertha Nunn, five brothers and four sisters. 

Orville is survived by one brother, Dell Nunn; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Nunn.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service.  A private burial will be at Watts Cemetery, Sod, WV.

Marion Tiffner McClure

Marion Tiffner McClure, 80, of Griffithsville, WV, went home Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Hubbard Hospice House West in South Charleston.

She was a member of the Yawkey United Methodist Church. Marion loved   being outdoors tending to her gardens and lawn. She was a former EMT  
with the Lincoln County Emergency Services.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Anna Harless Tiffner;  
brothers Clyde, Elmer Curtis Jr., James Jesse, Robert, Dwayne, Emmett, Rick 
and Curtis Tiffner; and sisters Virginia McClure and Romaine White.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gary; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Teresa McClure and John and Melissa McClure; grandchildren Matthew (Brittany) McClure and Ashley McClure; great grandchildren Mariska, Hannah and Colton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Butch Loftis officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell  
Cemetery, Griffithsville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral  
home.

Calvin Allen

Calvin Allen, 66, of Julian, WV, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 at CAMC-General.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney & Mearl Allen, three brothers and three sisters.

Calvin was a retired welder from Hobet Mines with 25 years of service.  He also retired from Pipefitters Local #625 and was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge.

Calvin is survived by his daughter, Crystal (Mark) Clay, Julian, WV, son, Calvin (Allyson) Allen, Columbus, OH, and grandchildren, Jacob and Hayley Clay of Julian, WV, and Ava Allen, Columbus, OH.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

He will be laid to rest at a private service with his parents at Anderson Cemetery at Pine Grove, Sumerco, WV.

Chad Elliot Miller

Chad Elliot Miller, 50, of Sod, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospital from a severe heart attack.  Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me.

He was born June 2, 1970, at Wuestoff Memorial Hospital, Coca Beach, FL.  Chad was the younger son of Ronnie Miller of Sumerco and Judy Allen of Sod.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Samuel and Jacob, his mother (whom Chad resided with) Judy Allen and father, Ronnie Miller, grandchildren, Haidin Samuel, Anna Marie and Raylei Nicole, brother, Trent Miller (Angela) and nephews, Deven age 14 and Avery age 7.  Chad had many friends and family and cherished each of them.  We will miss you, Chaddie Baby.  Chad didn’t gather worldly things, but gathered people.

He worked heavy equipment and worked on it with his dad, Ronnie, until he was injured and couldn’t work any longer.  Then life got in the way.  He was saved at age seven and later he and his wife, Melissa Green were baptized in Coal River.  Chad loved nature and was always outside. He had many talents and was well versed in many subjects as well as the Bible.  He was unique and had a big beautiful heart.  He spent a lot of his time with his father, Ronnie, due to illness and helping out in and around the house.  He was a true blessing and had wanted to go back to where he was born.  Effort to get there was in the works, but life got in the way. 

A private graveside service will be held at the Miller Family Cemetery, Ely Road, Sumerco, WV, at a later date.

Mark Claude Kelley

Mark Claude Kelley, 69, DOB 7-14-1951 of South Charleston, WV passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at CAMC-Gen. Div., Charleston, WV.  He was predeceased by his parents, Claude Audley & Reva Jane Kelley, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kelley.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hackney (Hall) Kelley of South Charleston, WV, daughter, Sarah Kelley (Brian) of Charlotte, NC, sister, Christy Kelley of Ripley, WV, and brother, Joseph Kelley (Felicity) of Fairplain, WV.  He is also survived by nieces, Polla Johnson, Pamela VanHoy, Priscilla Parsons, Cora Jane Kelley, nephew, David J. Kelley, aunts, Ruth Hall of Ripley, WV, Ellen Smith of Lebanon, OH, and June Hill of Beverly, OH.  He had 38 first cousins, and many great-nephews & nieces.

Mark retired from Boilermakers Local #667.  Prior, he was a Chemical Operator for FMC Corp., Pressman and Printer with Gannett Corp., Newspapers, in Washington D.C.  Also worked at DuPont Chemical, Lake Waccamaw, NC. 

Mark was a Bubbling Brook of Life!  He loved to read adventures and often read to Sarah and Elizabeth at Chincoteague Island, VA.  He was an Award winning Artist.  He did drawing, painting, sculpting, and writing.  He was an Award winning Sharp-Shooter.  He enjoyed many sports including surfing, snorkeling, boating, skiing, skydiving, horseback riding and dirt biking.  Mark walked across the State of WV with his dog ‘friend’ Liberty .

He built a large outside electrified stage at his Barn Hollow home where he and many friends enjoyed Jam Sessions.  He always looked for ways to help his friends, tell stories, and make you laugh.  Every day was an adventure!

He was a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army Reserves, graduate of Dunbar High School and attended Marshall University. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, at the Kanawha State Forest, Shelter # 9 in Charleston, W. Va.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dunbar Library, 301 12th St., Dunbar, WV 25064 in Mark’s memory.

Silvie Mae Isaacs

Silvie Mae Skidmore Duncan Isaacs, 83, of South Charleston passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness. 

She was born on December 6, 1936 in Braxton County, WV, the daughter of the late James Harlan and Dollie Gay Davis Skidmore.  She was a retired lab technician, homemaker and community worker.

After graduating from Washington District High School in 1954, she married the late John Lee Duncan.  To that marriage were born Robin Lynn Duncan Kendall (Andy) of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Debra Leigh Duncan of Belle, WV and Barbara Jean Duncan Bowe (Ronald Dee, II) of South Charleston, WV. 

Silvie was widowed at age 23 when John Duncan was killed in a plane crash while serving his country in the US Air Force.  Upon her return to West Virginia, she later met and married Renny V. Isaacs, Jr., who passed away in 2007.  That marriage produced son Paul R. Isaacs, Sr. (Marsha) of South Charleston.  Left to cherish the memories of their Nana are 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  Silvie is also survived by her brother Lambert G. Skidmore (Reba) of South Charleston and brother in law Ray F. Isaacs (Ruth) of Gallipolis, Ohio along with five nephews and one niece. 

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Reverend Alan Kim Webster officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in South Charleston.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
