Bill Allen, 69, of St. Albans died Thursday, August 19, 1999 at CAMC General division after a short illness.

He was retired from Porter Properties of Charleston, was a member of Pleasant View Church of God, Hurricane and was an Army Veteran and a member of The Allen Brothers Quartet.

He is survived by his: Wife: Katie; 2 Sons: Terry Allen of St. Albans, WV; Randy Allen of St. Albans, WV; 1 Daughter: Lori Witt ofHumcane, WV; 1 Brother: Rev. Walter Allen of St. Albans, WV; 8 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Monday, August 23, 1999 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Walter Allen and Rev. David McCormick officiating. Burial will beheld in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek, with Military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Friends may call on Sunday, August 22, 1999 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 12110, Charleston, WV 25302.

Charles H. Pauley, 75, of Alum Creek died Friday, August 13, 1999 in VA Medical Center, Huntington, after a short illness.

He was a former employee of the Kanawha County Board of Education, a member and song leader of Hopewell Baptist Church, Alum Creek, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of Alum Creek VFW Post 4768, where he served as chaplain.

He is survived by his: Wife: Phyllis Ann Pauley; 1 Daughter: Charlene Ray of Alum Creek, W V; 1 Step-son: John E. Rabel of Alum Creek, W V; 4 Sisters: Clara Griffith of South Charleston, WV; Ella Fitzwater of South Charleston, WV; Rachael Waldron of South Charleston, WV; Louise Brua of South Charleston, WV; 1 Brother: Paul Pauley of South Charleston, WV; 5 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren

Services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wallace York and Pastor Lloyd Humphreys officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Monday August 16, 1999 at the funeral home. Linda J. Paul, 60, of St. Albans died Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

She was a homemaker for 39 years and was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans.

She is survived by her: Husband: Herbert O. Paul; 2 Daughters: Lynn Smith of St. Albans, WV; Retta Hyatt of St. Albans, W V; 2 Brothers: Stanley Steele of VA; Donald Steele of Alum Creek, WV; 2 Sisters: Velma Staats of KY; Eileen Shaffer of Alum Creek, WV; 3 Grandchildren which she raised: Steven Smith, Shannon Smith and Stepfanie Hyatt.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Friday, August 13, 1999 at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Hoskins officiating. Burial will be held in Gillispie Family Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was the owner of Garretts Retail Clothing Store and was an U.S. Air Force veteran of W WII.

He is survived by his: Wife: Peggy Margaret; 2 Daughters: Deborah Lashinsky of Miami, FL; Rebecca Little of Beaumont, TX; 1 Son: Bill Garrett of West Palm Beach, FL; 2 Granddaughters.

John Holly Cornette

John Holly Cornette, 97 of Alum Creek died July 25, 1999 in Heartland of Charleston after a long illness.

He was a retired miner and a self-employed restaurant operator in Morehead, Kentucky and Uneeda. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in St. Albans.

He is survived by his: 3 Daughters: Lucille Ross of PA; Lorine Gore of Quinland, WV; Pauline Rymer of Alum Creek, WV; 3 Sons: William Cornette of Letter Gap, WV; Don Cornette of De Land, FL; Art Cornette of Beckley, WV; 23 Grandchildren, 12 Great Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Monday, July 26,1999 at 8 PM with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Graveside services will beheld at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call one hour prior the service on Monday at the funeral home. Rebecca Mae Corbitt, 51, of Yawkey, died Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was employed at the Bureau ofEmployment Programs for 17 years, and she attended the Praise Assembly of God at Alum Creek.

She is survived by her: Husband: James; 2 Sisters: Rosemary Johnston of Sumerco, WV; Brookie McConnell of Thompson, GA; 3 Brothers: John Holstien of High Point, NC; Willis Holstien of Griffithsville, WV; Dillard Holstien of Charleston, WV; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Exlee J. Saul Gillenwater, 74, of Yawkey, died Tuesday, July 20,1999 at home after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and attended the Griffithsville Church of Christ, Beech Grove Baptist and was a life long resident of Lincoln County.

She is survived by her: 2 Sons: Billy C. Saul ofGriffithsville, WV; Kevin “Butch” Saul of Sumerco, WV; 1 Daughter: Sheree L. Hamilton of Nitro, WV; 1 Step-Daughter: Judy Porter of Clermont, FL; 3 Brothers: Charles Edward Settle of Yawkey, WV; Kenneth “Skee” Settle of Edens Fork, WV; Tom Settle of Yawkey, WV; 5 Grandchildren; and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Thomas L. “Bear” Lucas, 49, of Griffithsville died Friday, July 16, 1999 at home after a short illness.

He was a welder with the Boiler Makers Local #667, a 1970 graduate of Nitro High School, a member of the St. Albans Moose Lodge, and a former board member of the Great Oaks Farms, Garretts Bend.

He is survived by his: Wife: Janice; 2 Daughters: Meredith Tucker of Poca, WV; Sha VanHorn of Columbus, OH; Mother and Step-Father: Wilma and Bennie Wisnewski of Dunbar, WV; 1 Brother: Ralph Lucas, Jr. of Cross Lanes, WV; 3 Grandchildren.
