Dennis G. “Rusty” Pauley, 48, of Hurricane, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, William Rocky Pauley.

Rusty was an unique and special person. He was an avid fisherman and conservationist who dearly loved and appreciated all of God’s outdoors.

He is survived by his daughters, Amanda and Tara Beth Pauley both of St. Albans; mother, Margaret Madden of Hurricane; father and step-mother, William and Pearlene Pauley of Monterville; longtime companion and sweetheart, Carol Powers; sisters, Jacqueline Byrd of Hurricane; Twila La Barr of Nashville, TN; brothers, Mark of Hurricane and Brian of South Charleston; grandsons, Blake and Brennan Sanders of St. Albans and many nieces and nephews that adored him.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Millie Ann Dunlap

Our loss is Heaven’s gain, Millie Ann Dunlap, 95, of Sod went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Sunbridge of Putnam after a long illness.

She was one of the oldest members of McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.

She was the daughter of the late Austin & Liza Jane Smith and also preceded in death by her

husband, Ercel; son, Mack McClure; and daughter, Ganava Jenny Hughes.

She is survived by:  2 Daughters: Wilma L. Teel & Trilby Baumgartner both of Scott Depot

1 Son: Jacky Dunlap & wife, Charlene, of Sod

11 Grandchildren: Shawn Pauley (Kim), Kimberly Brown, Gigi Bayes (Sam), Jonathan Taylor (Annette), Cynthia Heiser, Mark Taylor (Elizabeth), Paula Matthews (Brett), Jason Dunlap (Lorie) & Eugene, Brenda & Debbie McClure  and 12 Great Grandchildren  and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.

Millie was greatly loved and will be missed by her family & many friends.

Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 -8 PM at the funeral home.

Olive V. Pauley Banks 78 of Alum Creek went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 10, 2007 at her daughters home in Harrisville WV surrounded by her loving family and caregiver, Sheila Seth, afer a long illness.

Olive was born Oct. 7, 1928 the daughter of the late Talmadge & Mayme Pauley. She was a homemaker and mother of five children whom she loved dearly. She was a Baptist by faith and fulfilled the scripture in Second Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course and most of all I have kept the faith.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Randolph Banks, daughter Nancy Smith, Grand daughter Misty Rock, four Brothers: Edward, Steve, Troy & Paul Pauley, two Sisters: Bernice Neal & Barb Trudell.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Beverly Rivenbark & (Ricky) of Wallace, NC Jackie Hoover & Allen of Harrisville, WV. Two sons: William Rock & wife Hattie and Marion Wayne Banks all of Alum Creek. Sister: Susan Hamilton of Jacksonville, FL

Two Brothers: Ray Pauley of Alum Creek and Bob Pauley of Sod

Four Grand children: Shannon Smith, Jason Roberts, Walasha Newbrough and Marisa Cline.

Eight Great Grandchildren: Hayden, Meittya, Josie, Elijah, Sydney, Zachary, Sierra & Tierra.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped in so many ways. Friends, loved ones, & neighbors for their visits, cards, phone calls and loving support during this trying time. Billie Jo “BJ” Brogan Hughes, 33 of Buckeye Fork, Sod, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007.

She was born March 2, 1973. BJ graduated from Duval High School in 1991 with honors in Speech & Debate and chorus.

She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Shelton and Eva Brogan of McCorkle Road.

She is survived by her husband Brian Hughes, son Samuel Brogan, parents Rev. Randall “Butch” Brogan and Linda of McCorkle Road. Grandparents Bill and Joyce Meadows of Alkol. Her “Sissy” Julie Miller and( Logan) of McCorkle Road. Brother-in-law Jeremy Hughes of Morgantown. Mother and Father-in-law, Donna and Carl Jordon of North Carolina.

Our love and devotion for God will hold our family together.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church.

Leon N. Lee, 88, of St. Albans passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007.

He was born March 2, 1918 in Looneyville, West Virginia, was the son of the late Lloyd and Ulla Lee and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church of St. Albans were he was a former Chairman of the Board of Deacons, also served on many other boards and committees, and was a teacher in the Lee-Ruch Sunday School Class for 38 years. He retired from Union Carbide with 38 years of service.

Leon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenna M.. Lee;

2 Sons: Michael W. Lee of Birmingham, Alabama; and Glenn A. Lee of St. Albans;

Daughter: Donna M. Strand of Cross Lanes;

Grandson: Michael T. Lee of Birmingham, Alabama;

Brother: Leonard Lee of Walton;

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Highlawn Baptist Church St. Albans with Pastor Rev. Joe Hyde officiating. Burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service at the Highlawn Baptist Church.
