Macil V. Brammer, 80, of Ridgeview, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Brammer, Jr. and her daughter, Wanda Faye Prine.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Brammer; sister, Gladys McCallister; 3 brothers, James,  Arley  and Shelvy Treadway; four grandchildren, Burley and Greg Mullins, Charles Edward Brammer and Perry Prine; five great grandchildren, Kimberly Ann, Meghan, Burley Charles, Dominic and Skiler.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Garry Bowman and  F. A. Giles officiating.  Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Iva Jean Linville, 80, of Yawkey, born August 3, 1927 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19, 2008 after a short illness.

She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, WV.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Roscoe Winfield Vickers and Flossie Elizabeth Harless Vickers; and sister, Juanita Vickers Moore.

She is survived by:

Elsie S. Thomas

Elsie L. Thomas,  93, of Griffithsville, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Cuba Thomas, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Thomas; two sisters, Jewel and Bonnie; and two brothers, Walton and Orville.

She was a member of the Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod, and a retired elementary school teacher for Lincoln County with 40 years of service.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Paul and Cuba Thomas of Griffithsville; granddaughter,

Paula Denise Pauley (Tony Hager) of Charleston; grandson and his wife, Rickey R. and Christi Thomas of Arizona; sister, Mabel Mason of North Carolina; two brothers, Eldon “Buddy” and Wilford Smith of Beckley; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with  Pastor Robert Leadman officiating.  Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cathy Ann Walls

Cathy Ann Walls, 56 of Morrisvale, went home to be with the Lord  Friday, May 9, 2008 at CAMC Memorial Division with loving  family & friends by her bedside.

She was a member of Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Morrisvale and was an employee of Sam’s Club in the bakery for 14 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie & Annie Clark.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ricky.

2 Daughters: Jaime Stone (Denny)

Jodie Walls (fiancé,  Brandon)

Sister: Janet Collins (Danny)

2 Brothers: Terry and David Clark

½ sister: Rebecca Riedel (Paul)

3 grandchildren that “Meme” dearly loved – Marlee, Landon & Roman Stone

She will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.

Service will be 1:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors David Bowman & Mike Kordusky officiating.  Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends may call from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Betty W. Smith

Betty W. Smith, 70, of Alum Creek, formerly of St. Albans,  passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the family farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Hazel Westfall.

Betty was a graduate of South Charleston High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.  She received her Master of Arts from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  She was a retired school teacher from St. Albans High School, yet after retirement she continued teaching up to the present time.

She led an exemplary life as a faithful companion with unquestioned morals, and she knew no limits in her devotion for her children.  She had a flare for landscaping and decorating both of which she loved.  As a teacher she always had exceptional empathy for students with special needs.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dr. J. Loren Smith; four children, Dr. Scott F. Smith and wife, Polly K. of Sumerco; Jill S. Smith at home; Julie C. Smith of Canton, CT; Clark W. Smith and wife, Christie of St. Albans; seven grandchildren, Tori, Taylor, Gracie,  Elizabeth, Jillian, Mattie and Shellie.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans, with Rev. Loretta Isaiah officiating.  Entombment will be held at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church Elevator Fund, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV 25177.

Ethel Mae Green, 66, of Charleston went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 26, 2008 after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Lynn Smith.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Earl Green, Jr,.

Funeral service will be ll:00 AM Wednesday, April 30, at the Free Will Baptist Church of Southridge where she has been a loyal member for seven years, with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Additional services will be held in Ohio and Kentucky.

Many thanks to Dr. Schiano and his staff at Women and Children’s Hospital for their continued support and care. Also, much gratitude for Hospice Care support.

Garland Max Roberts

Garland Max Roberts, 73, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord April 23, 2008 at CAMC Memorial Division after complications from a lung disease.

He was preceded in death by his father: John F. Roberts, son: Gregory Max Roberts, and sister Mona Marie Roberts.

He was retired from Union Carbide, So. Charleston and Institute with 35 years service, a 1953 graduate of Duval High School and a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his:

Son: Bradford and wife Stacy Roberts of Winfield;

Mother: Anna M. Roberts of Dunbar;

2 Sisters: Dauvn Rheda Cantley of So. Charleston and Linda R. and husband Rod McClure of Charlotte, North Carolina;

Funeral service will be held Sunday April 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Forks of Coal Memorial Park Alum Creek. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
