Opal G. Bowles, 101, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Hospice West. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson “Red” Bowles, son, John J. Bowles and her grandparents, Paris & Louisa Sowards, who raised her from the age of 5; brother, Roy Jimison; and sister, Arminta Bowles.
She was a Christian and a member of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from the WV Department of Motor Vehicles.
She is survived by daughter, Connie (Donald) Pauley; four grandchildren, Melondy Holbert, Ed Pauley, John Bowles, Jr., and Amy Perdue; daughter-in-law, Kay Pursley; 3 great-grandchildren Shannon Holbert, Toryn Pauley and Hope Thomas; 3 step grandchildren, Taylor Tafoya, Brandon and Madison Perdue; and special cousin, Betty Stacy.
Services will be 1:00pm Monday, December 28, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Jim Lennox officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service.
