Lonceford Franklin (Frankie) Griffith
On February 13, 2016 Lonceford Franklin (Frankie) Griffith, 81, of McCorkle, WV experienced firsthand the splendor and beauty of Heaven upon his arrival there. There is no doubt in our minds that he entered shouting “Glory!” as he did many times when he caught a distant glimpse of Heaven while here on earth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cornes Griffith, and mother, Belva Griffith; brothers, Avis, Paul and Butch; sisters, Thelma and Wanda; son, Brian Franklin Griffith; and son-in-law, Pat Dunlap.
Frankie was a pillar of the community in which he lived all of his life. He was always ready, willing and gladly doing whatever he could to help anyone in need. He also lived that same generosity with his time and abilities for his beloved church, McCorkle Freewill Baptist, where he was a member and one of its founders. He was much loved, and will be greatly missed by both his church family, as well as, his surviving family.
He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 62 years, Norma Jean; his daughters, Pam Dunlap and Cindy (Chuck) Bays; his son, Randy (Debra) Griffith; as well as 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; and a host of family and friends. All of whom are looking forward to strolling over Heaven with him and hope to continue his legacy of living from a servant’s heart to the glory of God.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, at McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church, 175 McCorkle Road, Sod, WV 25564.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church family for their efforts to make it possible for Frankie’s service to be held in the new church building.
