Ronnie A. Saul, 58, of Sod, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby and son, Jeremy Saul.

Ronnie is survived by his mother, Melba Clark Saul; wife, Kimberly L. Bragg Saul; children, Alana, Heather and Cody Saul and Jessica (Chris) Elswick; brother, Rick (Penelope) Saul;   sister, Shirley (Kessil) Justice;  grandchildren, Alexis Hanshaw, Jacob and Haylee Saul and J. T. and Amber Elswick.

A memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22,  at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank  Chapman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service  at the funeral home.

 

Carolyn K. Allen

Carolyn K. Allen, 72, St. Albans, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chapman Allen and daughter, Priscilla Hager.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by daughter, Regina Truman; Sons: Bobby, Wayne and Danny; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bethel and Bryan Adkins; sisters: Dreama Williams, Yvonne Lacy and Jeraldean Smith.

Services will be 3:00pm Friday, October 16th at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Tony Williams officiating. Family and friends  will gather 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Old Pine Grove Cemetery, at McCorkle.

Sherry Mae Weidensall

Sherry Mae Weidensall, 59, of Alum Creek passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at her home.

As following her wishes, she is being cremated.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 5:00 – 6:00pm at Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church in Coal City.  In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to help with expenses.  Please direct donations to Maxine Kelly, P.O. Ricky McCormick

Rick McCormickHeaven gained an angel on Sunday, October 4, 2015 when Ricky McCormick 53 of Davis Creek passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Buster McCormick, of Charleston, and mother in law, Doris DeBord.

He is survived by his wife Barbara McCormick and two sons Cody McCormick of Oklahoma, and Austin McCormick of Alum Creek. In addition, Ricky will be greatly missed by his sister, Vicki(Andy) McCormick Titcher; nephew, Drew Titcher; Niece, Ashley Titcher; great nephew, Tyler Titcher all of South Carolina; step-daughter, Chelse Ward of West Virginia; brother, Larry(Debbie) McCormick; great nieces and nephew, Kerra, Ann Marie, Nicholas McCormick, and many friends.

Rick was the owner and operator of McCormick Tile since 1988 and was a member of the NRA, IHRA, Bricklayers, and Masons Union, previously a member of the WV Homebuilders Association.  Rick also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and drag racing in his younger years.  He was a graduate of George Washington High School.

Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, October 8, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Frank Chapman and Charles Pennington officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W. Charleston, WV 25311, where Rick was cared for until his passing.

Jerry W. Roberts Sr.

Jerry RobertsJerry W. Roberts, Sr., Alum Creek, born July 7, 1942, went home to be with the Lord October 4, 2015.  He was a graduate of Washington District High School Class of 1961, and also a United States Army Veteran and was of the Baptist faith.  He retired from Alcatel-Lucent Technologies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Cecil Roberts, brothers: Kennith and Richard; and sister Phyllis.

He is survived by his wife Diana S. Roberts of 49 years; children: Jerry Wayne, JR., Christina Arcuri, Cecil and his wife, Alida; brothers: Ralph, Sonny, Nunnie, Tommy, and Kermit; Grandchildren: Jr., Ericca, and Valiciti Arcuri, Diana, Sada, and Nicole Bruno; great-grandchildren: Riley Roberts, Sawyer Martin, and a very special friend Allen Roach

Services will be 3:00pm, Wednesday, October 7th at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Tommy Roberts and Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service.   Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery Alum Creek with military rites conducted by Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.

Teresa Kay Stone

Teresa Kay Stone 56 of Sod, went home to the Lord Saturday, October 03, 2015, at home after a short illness.

She is survived by her: foster parents; Ricky and Brenda Price with whom she lived with, sisters; Loretta Ann Bostic, Elizabeth Rene Stone, and Mary Smith, brothers; Joseph Edger Stone, and Michael Elkins.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Butch Leadman officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park.  Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

 

Ricky E. Marker

Ricky MarkerRicky E. Marker, 56, of South Charleston, WV went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston after a short illness.

He was vice president of Garcie R. Marker & Sons, Inc.  He was a tireless worker and hardly ever took a day off work.  Ricky was a mediator, always wanting to make peace and a 1977 graduate of George Washington High School.

Ricky was a friend to everyone, he loved spending time with his dogs. He loved riding dirt bikes with his friends, known as “The Brier Creek Ruff Riders”,  and until recently never missed a Sunday riding.  Ricky loved riding the Olcott trails, helping name two of the trails: The Red Fender Hill, where he lost his red fender, and also Rick’s Pipeline.  It was his desire that his remains be placed on these trails.  Rick had a witty sense of humor, a unique voice and memorable laugh.  He was a meticulous record keeper, having lists and notes for everything.  Rick loved to fish and frequented most of the small privately-owned ponds in the Alum Creek area.

He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Heidi Stoeke; son, Michael Ball (Chrissy Cochran); parents, Garcie and Geraldine Marker; brothers, Allen (Tami) Marker and Steven  Marker (Laura Stover); nieces, Autumn Humphreys, McKenzie Marker and Stevie-Lynn  Marker; and nephew, Seth Marker.

A memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Ron Scott officiating.  The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV  25311.

Phyllis Jean Hinkle

Phyllis HinklePhyllis Jean Dolin Hinkle, 67, of Costa, WV, passed away at home on Friday, September 25, 2015 from an extended illness with her family by her side.

She was a strong, loving, and beautiful faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Phyllis was always there for everyone thru sickness and health, no matter what pain she was going thru herself.  She loved and prayed for everyone daily and now her journey here has ended and she is flying high!  No more pain and sorry, she is with her beloved eldest son, Phillip R. Lovejoy; parents, John and Irene Dolin; Jamie, Lilly Gail, Timmy, Kevin Wayne and all our family members in heaven.  Oh, just think what a reunion that is.  Someday we will be together again, our journey will continue here on earth until then R.I.P.

Phyllis leaves behind her loving family, son, Scott Douglass and Abbigail Lovejoy of Costa; daughters, Tammy Lovejoy of Costa, Jessica Hinkle and Evan of Charleston; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacy, Zachary, Eric, Josh, and Elizabeth Lovejoy and Shylowe (Macks) Lilly; great grandchildren, Cameron, Steven, Megan, Frannie, Chase, Noah, Booboo, Lulu, and Little Zach; siblings, Johnny Dolin of Roane Co., Hank Dolin of Ridgeview, Pete Dolin of Camp Creek Steve Dolin of Roane Co., Connie (Susie) McClain, Alice (Midge) Dolin of Madison and Shirley Holstine of Rock Creek.

Her request was to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their support and care, especially our cousin, Sally Dolin Starkey (RN).   She has been a blessing to our family and is loved very, very much as she was there for our mother, Irene Dolin and also Jamie Egnor.   We can never thank you enough Sally.   Also a special thank you to Jack (RN) for your support.

Phyllis will forever be in our hearts and will be sadley missed by all who knew her.

Clarence Myers

Clarence Edward “Moon” Myers, 63, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice West at Thomas Hospital in South Charleston.

He was a cable lineman for years and also preached and pastored at several area churches.

Moon was preceded in death by his parents, John and June Myers, and uncle, James Howard Priestley.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jo; daughters, Davena (Jimmy) Hughes and Elizabeth (Paul) Rucker; grandchildren, Cory, Shantel and Kiarra Sigmon; great grandson, Qynton Sigmon; and brothers, Johnny and Rodney Myers.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow at Priestley Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
