Frankie L. GriffithLonceford Franklin (Frankie) Griffith

On February 13, 2016 Lonceford Franklin (Frankie) Griffith, 81, of McCorkle, WV experienced firsthand the splendor and beauty of Heaven upon his arrival there.  There is no doubt in our minds that he entered shouting “Glory!” as he did many times when he caught a distant glimpse of Heaven while here on earth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cornes Griffith, and mother, Belva Griffith; brothers, Avis, Paul and Butch; sisters, Thelma and Wanda;  son, Brian Franklin Griffith; and son-in-law, Pat Dunlap.

Frankie was a pillar of the community in which he lived all of his life.  He was always ready, willing and gladly doing whatever he could to help anyone in need.  He also lived that same generosity with his time and abilities for his beloved church, McCorkle Freewill Baptist, where he was a member and one of its founders. He was much loved, and will be greatly missed by both his church family, as well as, his  surviving family.

He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 62 years, Norma Jean; his daughters, Pam Dunlap and Cindy (Chuck) Bays; his son, Randy (Debra) Griffith; as well as 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; and a host of family and friends.  All of whom are looking forward to strolling over Heaven with him and hope to continue his legacy of living from a servant’s heart to the glory of God.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, at McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church  with Pastor Ron Scott officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church, 175 McCorkle Road, Sod, WV  25564.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church family for their efforts to make it possible for Frankie’s service to be held in the new church building.

I have know Frankie all my life. Got many Christmas trees from him. I loved him like a Dad, and I will miss his smile and laughter. I grew up on the river, always watching for Frankie to come fishing at the mouth of the creek. He was good to me and mine, and I love him for that.

What a wonderful reunion he will have with all his loved ones and friends that have passed. Those left behind will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace, to a wonderful man.

When I think of Frankie in Heaven, I picture a beautiful bejeweled crown upon his head signifying the many souls he helped lead to being saved. His witness was the way he lived his life in front of others. The first time my husband went to church was with Frankie at a small revival in Madison. His words and actions inspired me in my christian walk. I feel so privileged to have known this gentle, generous, and loving man of God. Frankie exemplified what a christian should strive to be. Love and Prayers for all his beloved family.
