Brenda, Teresa, and Brian- Basil was so very special to me. Some of my most fond, childhood memories were hearing him preach at Olive Baptist Church. In later years, it was a special treat, when I was home, to catch him preaching in revivals. One of my hopes after my move home, was to hear him preach again. I know he’s singing God’s praises on the golden streets of heaven. The world lost a great man, but Heaven gained one amazing angel. May you find comfort and peace in God’s loving arms and solace in the fact that one day, the circle will be unbroken.

Brian,,

I have fond memories of your dad. He was an incredible spokesman for God and His Son. He declared truth, grace, love and hope. As you, your mother, sister, extended family, church family and friends reflect on the legacy your dad leaves, may you see it when you look in the mirror. May you read it when you open his Bible and see the passages he marked. May you hear it when you reflect on the guidance you all give your children. May the Hope (truth) of the Resurrection bring comfort and peace to you all.

Brenda, Teresa, Brian and family, we are so sorry to hear of the death of Basil. Mark and I have some wonderful memories of our vacations together when we were little. And of course, my dad, Jim Pearson, spoke so fondly of Basil yesterday as we sat and talked about him. We hope these and other warm memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead. Our love and prayers to you all.

Cousin Basil and I grew up together attending Middle Ridge Baptist Church and later on Iveydale Baptist Church. Basil and I bonded as brothers in Christ around 1978 or 1979 at Cathedral of Prayer Baptist Church in Charleston. Bro. “Bus” Melton had a week of revival meetings and Basil was the evangelist. I believe that was the first time for me to hear him preach after I had rededicated my life to Christ in 1974.

My prayers go out to Brenda, children and grandchildren. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.

Aunt Brenda, Teresa and Brian, I am deeply saddened to hear about Uncle Base. I am so very sorry and wish I could be with you all. Please know I am with you all in spirit. It is said that the eyes are the mirrors to the soul and his soul was clearly beautiful. I remember he had the most beautiful blue eyes that sparkled and even though it’s been a while, he made me feel loved and always told me how much Jesus loved me. He was my favorite uncle. RIP Uncle Base you are now home with your father. Your niece, Donna. ?

Dear Brenda, Teresa and family: I am struggling for the words to express how sad I feel at your loss. Having lost my sweet daddy not long ago, I suppose I perhaps sympathize with you all even more. I loved Basil and he was always so sweet to me whenever you guys would visit here in Nashville. He was kind and compassionate and also knew how to tell a good joke. He was also pretty good at putting up shelves, checking out a “bad sound” in my car and spoiling us with dinners out. He was a good man who loved his family, which was apparent to all who came into contact with him. He will be greatly missed. I am praying for you all for comfort and peace and endurance to carry on in his absence. I love you all. Lisa
