Dorothy Perry

Dorothy Grace “Dot” Perry, 87, of Saint Albans, born January 24, 1928 went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Dot was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  One of her greatest joys was serving others with her delicious home-cooked meals.  Her love and devotion to family was the joy of her life.  How appropriate to celebrate her final victory on Mother’s Day weekend.

Dot was a member of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church in Saint Albans for over 70 years, where she was active in the United Bible Study Sunday School Class and the Phyllis Asher Women’s Circle.  She was also a member of Saint Albans Women’s Club, Heritage Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Millard “Tickle” Perry; daughter, Brenda Counts; mother, Grace Justice; sisters, Louise Dillon and Patsy Justice; and brothers, Harold and Arthur Justice.

Dot is survived by her son: Steve Perry; son and daughter-in-law: Phillip and Betty Perry; daughter and son-in-law: Diana and Joe Taylor; son-in-law: Charlie Counts; brothers: Jimmy, his wife, Janet, and Gary Justice; special sister-in-law: Linda Watson;  grandchildren: Joy, her husband, Brian Curry (their children: Charlie and Jackson),  Robert Taylor, Adam, his wife, Carla Taylor (their children: Addison, Makenna, and Harper), Lori Counts-Smith, her husband, V.J. Smith, Emma, her husband, Geoffrey Plagemann (their child: Hans), and John Perry II; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9th at Saint Andrew United Methodist Church in Saint Albans with Rev. Loretta Isaiah officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.  However, lunch and visitation will occur immediately following the service in Friendship Hall.  All are welcome to share with the family in the celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311 or St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV 25177.

Special thanks to Dr. F. Scott Moore, Dr. L. Blair Thrush Jr., Dr. Ali Sayed, and Dr. Brian Plants.  Also, a special thanks to her loving caregivers: Theresa White, Glenda and Misty White.

Steve, Phillip and Diana:

Please accept our most sincere condolences upon the loss of your beautiful Mother, Dot. She was such a warm and lovely lady, a ready smile on her lips ready for a friendly chat…a definite bright light in our neighborhood. She has left a mark on our hearts and she will be sadly missed as a neighbor, friend and part of our family.
We pray the Lord will give you peace in the knowledge that your Mom made her mark in our community and our hearts. She will not soon be forgotten.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I know how much the Perry family will dearly miss the strength of their beloved matriarch. This is for Nanna:
God saw you getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put HIs arms around you
and whispered “Come to Me” – – Author Unknown
