Gerald FanninGerald “Omer” Fannin, 61, of Charleston died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at CAMC General Division, Charleston.

He was retired from the Charleston Police Department; he also worked at AIG Insurance Co.; and a member of the American Legion.

Omer was preceded in death by his mother, Eloise Fannin and grandmother, Bernice Darling.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Bowman Fannin; two daughters, Jennifer Adkinson and Jamie Fannin; three stepchildren, Jackie, Jenny and Lisa; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and best friends and brother-in-law, Paul and Barbara Bowman.

A Memorial Service will be 4:00 pm Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Graveside Rites conducted by the  VFW Post 4768 of Alum Creek.

Gerry and I worked together at the Charleston Police Dept. He was a fine officer and a good friend, always helping others, My condolence’s to his family. My prayers are with you.

Gerry and I attended the Police Academy together. He was a fine Officer, friend, person.
