Emma TigheEmma Katherine “Kathy” Pauley Tighe, 74 of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 21, 2014 after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Noel Tighe, parents Hobert and Tina Pauley, and brothers James, Fray, and Paul Pauley.

She was retired from the state of West Virginia where she started her 37-year tenure with the Medicaid Program, and completed her career as the executive secretary at Bureau of Senior Services.

Kathy was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church  where she served as the pianist. During her life she enjoyed singing southern gospel music with various quartets throughout West Virginia. She helped provide for her family by being the greatest homemaker, canning, cooking, sewing, and also perfecting her WV hotdog chili.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Gail Price (Jack Rice); son, Michael Sean Tighe (Lori Tighe); daughter, Staci Anne Tighe (Terry Moselhy); and two very special grandchildren, Emily Michelle Tighe and Michael Martin Tighe as well as sister-in-law Betty Pauley of Virginia; nieces and nephew, Sandy Thornhill, Patricia Bryant, Debbie Bryant, Dexter Pauley; and many loving cousins – especially Ralph Pauley, and her best friend of 50 years, Peggy Pritt Cooley. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and church family.

A gospel sing in celebration of her life will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Hilltop Baptist Church 626 Childress Road, South Charleston, with Pastor Jim Lennox officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hilltop Baptist Church P.O. Box 58261 Charleston, WV 25358.

The world lost a truly wonderful lady. I worked and shared an office with Kathy at Senior Services. She was beautiful inside and out and I will miss her. May God keep the Tighe Family during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

in every sense of the word. More importantly, she was a trusted friend who always had my back. The world is truly a sadder place to live without this remarkable woman.
