Lessie Egnor
Lessie L. Egnor, 82, of Yawkey died peacefully Saturday November 9, 2013 after a long illness with her family at her side. She was born August 20, 1931 in Alma, Georgia where she grew up. Lessie met and married Ralph Egnor in 1949 while he was serving in the navy in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to West Virginia. They were married for 49 years before his death in 1998.

Lessie was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ, was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her Christian example made a lasting impact on her family. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her love for the Lord. Her family and friends will always remember her good southern cooking and delicious homemade pies. She enjoyed cooking, camping, spending time at the beach and in the mountains of West Virginia.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Darlene Tackett (Larry) of Yawkey, Cheryl Bowe (Dallas) of Ashland, KY and Cindy Chapman (Barry) of Cross Lanes. Also 7grandchildren; Jason Tackett (Missy) of Alum Creek, Amber Wells (Joey) of Yawkey, Justin Tackett (Johnna) of Cross Lanes, Whitney Ward (Chris), Landon Bowe (Melanie) both of Ashland, KY, Stacie Morgan (Brian) of Hurricane, and Ashley Jordan (Jon) of Cross Lanes and 7 great grandchildren; Shane, Codie, Rylie, Aiden, Bailey, Declan, and Jake, and brother Royce Stewart of South Carolina.

The family would like to thank Genesis Healthcare of Dunbar and Hospice for all their wonderful care and their special kindness shown to our mother.

Service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with Minister Joseph Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens Yawkey. Family and friends will gather 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.

The one thing you can be thankful for is she will be in a better place, no pain or suffering. I know it has been hard on all of you. I know what is to come will be even harder. It has been 18 years since mom died. Some days are still rough. May God Bless and Keep You all safe. God will get you through it! Wish I could be with you. Love all of you! I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed talking to Lessie when she stayed at Cheryl’s.
You all are blessed to have had her all these years. Cheryl, I’m a phone call away anytime. May God bless each of you and may your memories far outweigh your sadness.

Darlene, Cheryl and Cindy, Sorry to hear about your mother. I know those last few years and months have been tough. It has be at least 40 years since I have seen any of you. I know that your mom is in a much better place now and I’m sure that she appreciated all that you all did for her. If you are ever near Atlanta let us know. We live in LaGrange, Georgia and we will be celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this December. I do remember all those year that you all would come to Georgia and spend 2 week with us ever year. Our thoughts will be with you the next weeks as you adjust to losing your mom. Jerry and Libby 322 Country Club Rd. LaGrange, Georgia.

Girls, I am so sorry for your loss, I know what you are going through, it’s hard to let mother’s go but we didn’t have a choice. I still think I need to go see Mom and would love to be able to have one more great day with her. We got her house sold the end of Sept. but all of those wonderful memories we were able to relish in until we got the house emptied, I have lots of wonderful memories of my mom, Betty Williams and I’m sure you all will have the same. I think about her everyday and what a wonderful Mom and person she was, sounds like your Mom was wonderful as well. Take care. Mom was in Room 310 at Dunbar Care.
