Pearl Gillispie McCallister

Pearl Gillispie McCallister, 90, of South Charleston, born at Emmons, WV on August 12, 1918 passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 with her family by her side.  She was preceeded in death by her father & mother, Rome Gillispie and Gertie Holly Gillispie Thomas; sons, Leonard Ivan and Davy Virgil McCallister; brothers, Emory, Romie and Homer Gillispie.

She was a former employee of Kanawha County School Board.   She is survived by:  Daughters: Gardenia (Lyle) Snodgress of South Charleston and Velda Lee & the late Carl Lee, Jr. of Dunbar; Sons: Ray (Patty) McCallister of Ridgeview, Hansford (Peggy) McCallister of Nellis and Cisco (Cathy) McCallister of Alum Creek; Brother: Mosey Gillispie of Emmons; 15 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Robert “Butch” Leadman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.   The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Kuryla, MD and the staff at Golden Living Center- Riverside
