Tex Tyler jpg.Tex Edward Tyler, 74, Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at CAMC-Memorial.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lucille Tyler and nephew Bernard Tyler.

He was a US ARMY Veteran, a chef for Ramada Inn, and attended Fairlawn Baptist Church in Dunbar.

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Tyler, Margie (Gary) Flowers and  Cora Wells; brothers, Richard (Wilma) Tyler and Eddie Tyler, nine nieces and four nephews; special friends, Jean Lumen, David Wade and Babe Ferguson.

Service will be 2:00pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold White officiating.  Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW will follow at Miller Cemetery, Ballard Road.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Special thanks to the Dialysis team at Fresenius Medical Care of Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers the family request contribution toward funeral expenses.

 

Elsie Marie Garrett

Elsie Marie Garrett, 74, St. Albans, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 31, 2016, at home.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Garrett, two granddaughters, Tracie and Marissa, sister, Aileen Atkinson and parents, Russell & Junie Schultz.

She was a Christian and attended Grace Baptist Temple, St. Albans, and Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons, Wesley Garrett, Craig Garrett, and daughters, Sherry (Greg) Kirby, Lisa (John) Nomar, Bobbie (Robert)  Cobb, seven grandchildren, Wesley, Adam, Travis, Ryan, Mitchell, Devin & Breanna; sisters, Carol (Richard) Barger, Gloria (Carl) Johnson, Judy (Sterling) Ball, and Marlene (Dale) Lacy.

A private family graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Schultz Cemetery, South Charleston, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.

Barbara Wright Moore

Barbara MooreBarbara Wright Moore, 85, Alum Creek, was carried home Sunday, March 27, 2016, Resurrection morning on the wings of angels at Hospice West, South Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronda Joshua Wright in 1984 and Hubert Leo Moore in 2013.

Twenty-one years ago Barbara gave her heart to the Lord which meant more to her than any other event in her life.  Next to that was the pride and joy she took in her family which she often spoke fondly saying there was not an ugly or a lazy one in the bunch.

She was a retired clerk with the Dept of Transportation.

She is survived by her daughters: Brenda (Bub) Anderson and Cindy (Bobby) Lindgren; sons, Russell (Kathryn), Billy (Karen) and Randy (Kristy) Wright; step-daughters, Connie (Bob) Lowther and  Debbie (Tom) Blasingim; step-son, Curtis (Kris) Moore; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, five great, great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren.

Service will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with  Rev. John Helvey officiating.  Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod.  The family  will receive friends  one hour prior to the service.

William Kent Wilson Jr.

William WilsonWilliam Kent “Flash” Wilson, Jr., 48, of South Charleston, left us Tuesday, March 22 ,2016 at home.  He was the life of every party and always had a smile on his face.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sirena Baisden-Wilson, Dad & Stepmom, William & Beverly Wilson, Mom & Stepdad, Karen & Roger Grigsby, Daughters, Natasha Marie Wilson (Sam Davis Casto), Jennifer Wilson, Sons, Jonathan Wilson (Leann Roark), Brandan Dillion (Paige Parsons) John Baisden, and grandkids, Raylynn Dillion, Grace and Emma Sorrell, sisters, Jacki Johnson (Jeff), Traci Gullett (Red Mitchell), and Jeanne Tucker (Danny), brothers-in-law, who were more like brothers, Alan Ray Kinney, John Grimmett (Faith), sister-in-law Ann Hensley (Lou), mother-in-law who loved him as her own son, Judy Hensley (Larry Butcher) and special nieces that he loved like daughters, Ashley Hensley and Rhonda McCloud.  Special friends who were like family, J. Combs “man I’m purdy”,(Jamie Cotton), Billy Thomas (Julie), Jeff Gandee (Tamara), Bill Saunders (April), Jessica Hamrick (Adam).  A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, way too many to mention but all who have enriched his life and him theirs.

A Celebration of his life is scheduled for 4:00 pm Saturday March 26 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service.  The Family also asks that you share a memory or story during the celebration.

Patricia O'BrienPatricia Gale O’Brien, 57, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 19, 2016 at CAMC Memorial after a short illness.

She was preceded in death by her Dad, Austin Kirk; grandparents, Goldie and Clifford Critchfield; and brother Danny Kirk Hutchinson.

She is survived by her, daughter, Melissa (Charles) Derrick; life companion, Russell Shreve; mother, Barbara Kirk and companion, Edbert Javins;  granddaughters, Morgan and McKenzie O’Brien; sisters, Brenda (Larry) Jordan, Shelia Mooney and Debbie (Roger) Eplin; brothers, Michael Critchfield, Benny Critchfield; half-sister, Linda Slack; half-brother, Gerald Kirk and many other family and friends.

Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Holstein Cemetery at Dartmont. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Debra Ann Holstein

Debra HolsteinDebra Ann Holstein, 57, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Debbie was a kind loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She attended Brier Creek Baptist Church.  She loved spending time with her daughter and granddaughter, who were the twinkle of her eyes.   Debbie worked as a cook for George Washington High School for the last 17 years, and she loved to bake cakes for her family and friends.

Welcoming Debbie to heaven were her parents, Richard and Glenda Roberts and daughter, Keri L. Holstein.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 39 years, Gary Holstein; daughter, Erin (Michael) Graley, granddaughter, Aspyn Graley; Mercedes, Griffin and Titan whom she loved as her own; brothers, Ricky, Randy and Mark (Ashley) Roberts; and a host of other family members and friends.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Michael Graley officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Schiano, Mary Schiano and all his staff for the great care given over the last 13 years and also to the staff at Hubbard Hospice House.

 

Keith Thompson

Keith ThompsonKeith Thompson, 57, of Montgomery, formerly of Elkview, went home to the Lord Friday, March 18, 2016 at CAMC General Division in Charleston.

He was a Christian and preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Thompson.

Keith is survived by his brother, Kenny D. (Susie) Thompson, Jr.; sister, Sue Wall; special niece and caregiver, Rebecca; and several other nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22nd at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Roger Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made for the funeral services.

Nat CassleNathaniel “Nat” Cassle, Yawkey, WV passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 just one day short of 90 years old. He was a decorated WWII Army Veteran, retired FMC employee. A devoted member, deacon, and youth leader at Beach Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Faith,  Parents: Malen and Bessie Cassle, and Brothers: Don, Marvin, Melvin, John, Malen Jr, & Russell, Sisters – Rhoda, Lorrane, &Bessie.

He is survived by his best friend and soul mate of 66 years Anna Lou Ryan Cassle, his beloved nieces and caregivers, Tammy Lowery Presley, Sunny Hicks Jackson, Kati Presley, and Symone Walker, sisters: JoAnn McMellon, June Rose Hill, Sue Welch and brother Bobby Cassle, and a host of other loved nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Rd, Alum Creek, WV 25003 with Pastor Oshel Bell officiating.  Friends will gather 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial with military graveside honors conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, WV.

He is survived by his wife: Mary, Son: Bobby (Jessica); daughters Tara (Adam) and Jeannie (Ricky); sister: Regina (Mark) Truman; brothers: Bobby and Danny (Tammy) and five grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00pm Monday, March 21, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.  Burial will follow  at Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She was a member of Joes Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters: Darrell (David) Tudor and Shelly (Charlie) Beam, Son: Mike (Amy) McKinney; grandchildren: Jamie, Jimmie, Heather, Anthony & Candice; and great-grandchildren: Zack, Josh, Lynnzie & Lakin,  and one on the way.

Services will be 2:00pm Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Robert McCallister officiating.  Burial will follow in  Pauley Cemetery at Joes Creek.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
