Jewel Kessinger, 87, of Alkol went home to be with the Lord on  September 29, 2008 at the Hospice Hubbard House after a long illness.  She was a member of the Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Born on December 16, 1920, she was the daughter of Tucker and Grace Holley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard “Pete” Kessinger; infant son, Richard Keith; daughter, Grace; son-in-law, Ralph Clark; brothers: Milo and Henry Holley; sisters, Hazel Kessinger and Catherine Breedlove.

She is survived by her sons and their wives: J.R. and Barbara of Foster

Bill and Sherry of Danville

Billy Gene Hager

Billy Gene Hager, 78, of Hurricane, born May 30, 1930, son of Gladys E. Ryan and Edison W. Hager, entered into eternal rest on September twenty-ninth, the year of our Lord two thousand and eight.

After graduation from Hamlin High School in 1949 as an Honor Student, Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the capacity of sergeant during the Korean Conflict.  He retired with 32 years service as a machinist with Union Carbide and Rhone Poulenc.  Billy truly loved his fellow man and served many years as a representative of his Local Union 656 Machinist and AFL-CIO and on the Board of Directors of United Way in West Virginia and other community services.  He was a member of Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene and was loved by many.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Cleta Moore Hager; daughters, Sonora Winds and Jenny Hager Johnson (Dennis); son, Rev. Edison W. Hager (Carol); grandchildren, Callie Elizabeth and Samuel Ryan Hager; brothers, James D. Hager and Charles T. Woodall; nephews, James D. Hager, II and Charles E. Hager.

Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Phillip Bower officiating.  Burial will be held in Lawson Family Cemetery, Hamlin.  A visitation for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

We would like to thank all of the medical personnel at Frecenius Center for their dedication and loving care as part of our extended family as well as Putnam General – CAMC nurses and doctors, Kanawha Putnam Ambulance Services who went above and beyond in their care to us all.  Thank you for the many midnight cups of coffee, hugs and moral support.  Our special neighbors who have held us close and gathered all loose ends in the past and the present.  God bless and keep you all.  We love you.  The Hager Family.

Patricia J. Hensley, 56, of St. Albans, went home to the Lord, Saturday, September 27, 2008 after a short illness.

She attended the Freedom Christian Center at St. Albans and formerly worked for Kanawha Home Health Care.

She is survived by her husband, Luke

William Clay Cummings

William Clay Cummings, 73, of South Charleston formerly of Beebe, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 25, 2008  after a long illness.

He was a former plant supervisor for Tennessee Gas Co; a member of 1st Baptist Church in Beebe, Arkansas; a member of the Putnam  Lodge #139 AF & AM  in Hurricane, where he had served as past Master; a member of Beni-Kedem Shrine in Charleston; and had played the trumpet in the Shriner’s Band.

He was preceded in death by parents, Homer & Annie Cummings; and daughter, Kathy McLean.

He is survived by:

Janice Hill Meadows, 56, of Julian, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, September 20, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family and friends, who are left with many years of cherished memories.  Her love and laughter will always be remembered

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jackie L. Meadows; her father, Maxwell L. (Jimmy) Hill, Sr.; her baby brother, Jon Eric Hill; and her step-father, Robert E. McLaughlin, Sr.

Kimberly Pardue Adkins Plumley

Kimberly Pardue Adkins Plumley, 40, of Hamlin, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident at Sumerco on Saturday.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cline A. Adkins.

Kimberly was a 22 year employee of the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, a 1985 graduate of Hamlin High School, and a longtime volunteer with Hamlin Youth Majorettes.  She currently was a member of the support staff for the Lincoln County Boys Basketball Program.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney

2 step-children: Jarrett and Josie Plumley

a host of other family and friends who will greatly miss Kimberly.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Dave Callison officiating.  Burial will be held in Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City National Bank, c/o Rodney Plumley for the Kimberly Plumley Memorial Fund on behalf of her two daughters.

Colleen Meadows, 55, of Alkol, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on  Wednesday, September 17, 2008.

She was an employee of H&R Block in Hamlin for 20 years and also worked at Precision Machinery.  She was a faithful member of Sycamore Grove Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Alkol.

Delmar E. Lude

Delmar E. Lude, 82, of South Charleston passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after fighting a long illness.

He was retired from Libbey Owens Ford with 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen A. Lude; four children, Delbert L. Lude and wife, Niece of South Charleston, Joseph W. Lude and wife, Donna of South Charleston, Jeanie D. Hudnall and husband, Roscoe of Houston, Texas, and Connie F. Brogan and husband, Timothy W. of South Charleston; seven grandchildren, Joseph Lude, Paul Allen Lude, Donavan Lude, Shawn Brogan, Rachel Keeling, Brandon Hudnall and Travis Hudnall; 12 great grandchildren.

We will all greatly miss our beloved husband and father, whom we dearly love.  He has been by our side throughout our lives with all the love, understanding and dedication that a husband and father could give.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Benny Pauley officiating.  Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Friends and family may gather from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
