Beverly Jane Mosteller, 43, of Sod, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital So. Charleston after a short illness.

She is survived by:

husband, Todd

3 Sons: Toddy and Tristan Mosteller of Sod

Timmy Mosteller of Morrisvale;

Granddaughter: Lexi Mosteller;

 

4 Sisters: Cathy Macolm and Ann Kinkead of Virginia;

Sue Moats of So. Carolina;

Starla Logan of Hurricane;

2 Brothers: Richard Strobel of Dunbar;

C. J. Strobel of Hurricane;

Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday,  February 19, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be at the Mosteller Cemetery at Tornado. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Harlee Lane Knuckles

Harlee Lane Knuckles, infant daughter of Heather Adkins and Dustin Knuckles of So. Charleston was stillborn Friday, February 15, 2008 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

She was also survived by her:

Maternal Grandparents: Rhonda Adkins of So. Charleston and Paul Hively of Dunbar;

Maternal Grandfather: Gary Hinzman of So. Charleston;

Paternal Grandparents: Gregory & Debra Knuckles of So. Charleston;

Great Maternal Grandmothers: Lucy Adkins of So. Charleston and Freda Mullens of Campbells Creek;

Great Paternal Grandparents: Patsy and James Colley, and Lesta and Elton Knuckles all of So. Charleston;

Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Lee Hamrick officiating. Burial will be at the Forks of Coal Memorial Park Alum Creek. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Kevin Douglas Griffith

Kevin Douglas Griffith, 40, of St. Albans passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at CAMC General Division Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Douglas Griffith and Joan Carole Yallourakis; grandparents, James and Bremen Griffith and Noah Addison Harrison, 3 cousins and 3 aunts.

He was a employee of Cornerstone Builders of Teays Valley. He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved fast cars.

He is survived by his:

Wife: Connie;

Son: Cameron Scott Griffith;

Daughter: Paige Elizabeth Griffith;

Grandmother: Phyllis M. Harrison;

2 Sisters: Amy (Paul) Lutz and Cody Griffith;

Niece: Raleigh Addison Lutz

Aunts: Jewell Haddad, Phyllis “Peg” Griffith, Patty (Don) Dimock, Jeanette (Bob) Rieck, Carley Jo (Dale) Means and Lucy (Roy) Howerton.

Uncles: Kenny (Ann) Griffith, Jack (Loxley) Griffith, Larry (Patsy) Harrison, John (Sandra) Harrison and David (Sharon) Harrison.

Step Children: Kaitlyn, Matt, Kelly and Christy;

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday February 19, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road,  Alum Creek,  with Mike Bell officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Hubbard Hospice House Charleston in memory of Kevin’s parents,  Douglas Griffith and Joan Carole Yallourakis.

As a gift of life, Kevin donated his organs so that six people may receive continued life here in the local area.

Harold E. Stowers

Harold E. Stowers, 73, of Winfield  died Thursday, February 7, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital Huntington after a short illness.

He was born March 20, 1934 to Ashby and Lola (Burton) Stowers at Sugartree, Lincoln Co., WV

Harold was a 1952 graduate of Duval High School.  He received an honorable discharge from the US Army on July 13, 1962.  He retired from Brewer & Co., Charleston, WV in 1990 and was a 50 year member of the Sprinkler Fitters Local 669, United Association.  He was also a member of the Order of Elks 202 and a member of the Elk bowling league for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by special nephews, Kevin and Allen Loftis.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janice Clark Stowers

 

Brother and sister-in-law: Luther and Phyllis Stowers of Charleston

Sisters and brothers-in-law: Wanda and Charles Smith of Nitro

Sylvia and Doyle Loftis of Valparaiso, Indiana

Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Neuro staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and concern for Harold.

Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek  with pastors Butch Loftis and Richard McCallister officiating.  Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret Frances Medley

Margaret Frances Medley, 89, of South Charleston passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Meadow Brooke Acres Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Jasper and Minnie Pearson Young.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, George W. Medley, her son, Charles R. Medley, brothers, David C. And Leonard Young and sister, Mary Shiltz.

She was a member of the Davis Creek Nazarene Church and the Nazarene Young at Heart class.  She was a housewife and a devoted mother to her two sons, Charles and Larry.

She is survived by son, Larry W. Medley and wife, Kay, of Charleston and grandson, Clay C. Medley of Morgantown.  Also, surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Services will be  2:00 pm Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Merlin Provance officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cristee, Jim Kautz, Mark Shouldis, Cloyd Breedlove, Clay C. Medley and Troy Miley.

Interment will be at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

The family would like to thank the staff of Meadowbrook Acres for the excellent care they provided Margaret while she was a resident there.

 

Dottie Lou Lowery

Dottie Lou Lowery, 65, of Sumerco passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was a 1960 graduate of Duval High School.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ersel Oxley.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Betty J. Pauley McCoy

Betty J. Pauley McCoy, 77, of St. Albans, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.

She was the daughter of the late, Ace and Erna Pauley and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Norris “Mac” McCoy.

Betty was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ, St. Albans.

She is survived by:

Son: Raymond N. McCoy and wife, Mary

Daughters: Barbara McCoy

Jennifer Albert and husband, Andrew all of St. Albans

Janie Blackshire and husband, Kenny of  Mooresville, North Carolina

4 grandchildren

6 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Evangelist Eddie Cooper officiating.  Burial will held the Hazlett Cemetery, Garretts Bend.  Friends may call on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
