Brandy J. White, 31, of Tornado, died Friday, September 28, 2007 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.  She is survived by her husband, Doug; daughter, Amnicilla “Amy” Wong; son, Gabriel D. L. White; step-son, Joseph D. White; parents, Clarence and Brenda Miller; sisters, Cheryl Smith, Dondra Tennant, Macilia Keenan; brother, Clarence E. Miller, II; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Wash-King Cemetery, Bomont. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Renny Valentin Isaacs

Mr. Renny Valentin Isaacs, Jr. 83 of Tornado, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, after a long farewell from Alzheimer’s disease. He Passed peacefully at Valley Center Nursing Home in Spring Hill.

He was born on February 9, 1924, the son of the late Renny V. Isaacs, Sr. And Carrie Elizabeth Jewell Isaacs near Hithchens, Kentucky. Reared in Cabell and Lincoln Counties, he graduated from Duval High School near the top of his class in 1941. He received a scholarship and attended Berea College in Kentucky for one semester. He then served for nearly a year with the Civilian Conservation Corps before being drafted by the US Army. Renny, a Technical Sergeant, then served with distinction as a cavalry scout and high speed radio operator with the 7th Armored Division in the European theater during World War II.

After recovering from various wounds and injuries at the Army Hospital near Salisbury, England he returned to the states and completed his undergraduate work in education at Morris Harvey College. Afterward, he received two Masters Degrees rom West Virginia University in elementary education and administration, respectively. He also compiled over 60 hours in postgraduate work from Stetson University in Florida and the University of Alabama. He was a much loved teacher and principal and a skilled administrator for nearly 40 years in Kanawha, Putnam and Lincoln counties as well as Osceola County Florida before retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in St. Albans where he attended for over 25 years. Renny was a 53 year Master Mason, 32nd Degree, and proud member of the Washington Lodge #58, AF&AM , York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies, Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Legion of Honor unit with the Beni Kedem Shriners and the Benny Padilla VFW post 4768. He loved to play guitar, travel and spent time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Silvie May Skidmore Isaacs of Tornado, Daughters Robin L. Duncan Kendall and her husband Andy of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Debra L. Duncan of Rand, Barbara J. Duncan Bowe and her husband Ronald D., II, of Alum Creek, and son Paul R. Isaacs, Sr. And his wife Marsha of So. Charleston, along with 12 Grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ray F. Isaacs of Gallipolis, Ohio and was preceded in death by his brother Willis C. Isaacs, formerly of Scott Depot.

The family wishes to pay special thanks to the wonderful staff at Valley Center Nursing Home for three years of unceasing care, compassion and love.

A celebration of Renny’s life will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday September 27,at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with the Rev. Jodie Pistore officiating. Burial will be 11:00

AM Friday at the East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson, Kentucky with masonic graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Eva Tackett Runyan

Eva Tackett Runyan, 88 of Sterling Heights, Michigan, formerly of Lincoln County died September 19, 2007 in Michigan.

She was the loving wife of the late Avril Runyan and Wayne Branstetter. Dearest mother of Phyllis (Arie) Irons, Edna Kaye (Paul) Hinkelman, Charlene Miller and the late Patricia (Bill) Asbury. Dear Grandmother of Jackie, Theresa, and Shawn Irons, Bill Asbury, Paul Aren Hinkelman, and Krystal Dawn Runyan. Great Grandmother of Jackie Lee, Daren, Karyn, and Shawney Irons, Samantha, Alex, and Madison Asbury and Michael Gowatch. Also survived by nephew Dean William and several other nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, and making people smile.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service which will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek with Minister Richard Runyan officiating. Burial will be at the Orchard Hill Memory Gardens at Yawkey.

Ruth Sharon Hartwell

Ruth Sharon Hartwell, 61, of St. Albans went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September18, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital Special Care Charleston after a long illness. She was a retired employee of Verizon.

Surviving is her Husband: Danny; Daughter: Dawn Hartwell; Sisters: Loretta (Sue) Kemp, and Diana Dolin; Brothers: Delbert Kidd and Ronald Kidd; and Several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at ll:00 AM Thursday September20, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Memorial Park So. Charleston. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Deloras J. “Beaner” Dunlap

Deloras J. “Beaner” Dunlap, 72, of Sumerco, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2007 after a long illness.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Dunlap; mother, Ethel Wallace Graley and two brothers.  She attended Sumerco Church of God and was a homemaker.  She is survived by her daughter, Connie Kuhn of Sumerco; two sons, Carl and Ed Dunlap both of Yawkey; one sister, Agnes Pauley of Sod; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Richard McCallister, Dwight McClure and Butch Loftis officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lois Cantley

Lois Cantley, born June 16, 1917, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Oakridge Center where she has lived the past six years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William Asbury and Lenna Griffith Flowers; husband, Archie; two sons, Jerry and Bob and one daughter, Linda.  She left behind her children who loved her very much, Ellen Pauley, Arnold Cantley, Shirley Ker, James Cantley, Rosalie Lipscomb, Pat Cantley and Kathy Herr; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Friends may call on one hour prior to the service at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Dreama G. Allen

Dreama G. Allen, 62, of Sod, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at CAMC Memorial Division, after a long illness.  She was a member of the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry; one daughter, Hope Hunt of Spencer and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church with Pastors Roe Smith and Butch Brogan officiating. Burial will held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Kitty Marie Woodrum, 49, of West Hamlin, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, after a long illness.  She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Marteney.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Larry “Bobby” Woodrum; mother, Julia Marteney of Ohio; seven children, Scott Marteney of Branchland, Reba (Donnie) Hively of St. Albans, Chris (Angie) Woodrum of Dunbar, Andrew and Adam Woodrum both of West Hamlin, Andrea Woodrum of Alum Creek, Reva (Adam) Stanley of Charleston; three step children, Sherry (Steve) Christian, Junior and Daniel Woodrum all of St. Albans; 10 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, four brothers, Jim, Ray, Cheyenne and Ronnie Marteney; one sister, Ruth Wymer; step-mother, Ruth Marteney; step-sister, Patty Target.
