Jackie L. Robinson, Sr., 65 of Charleston died Friday, July 28, 2006 at home after a short illness.

He was a retired ER Technician at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston with 40 years service. He was an avid hunter & fisherman and loved antique cars. He was a member of the Klassy Kruzers in Dunbar, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dennie & Beulah Robinson; first wife, Kathleen Robinson.

He is survived by:

Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park, Summersville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.

Franklin D. Harris

Franklin D. Harris, 71, of South Charleston passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness.

He was retired from the ABC Commission for the State of WV and L&E Grocery in St. Albans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elba & Lina Bird Harris; and brother, Ivan Harris.

Harrison “Lee” Bays, 66, of Alum Creek went to heaven on Thursday, July 20, 2006.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ilona Jane Walton Bays.

They had 3 children: Cameron Lee Bays of Tornado
Jeff Alan Bays of Alum Creek
Lisa Jane Holbrook of Alum Creek.

He was the greatest Paw-paw to Tiffany, Cassy, Kaylla, Cagney, Katie & William.

Step-Paw-Paw to Jessica Smith & Chrissy Holbrook.

He was also a fabulous Great Paw-paw to Jacob & Cameron.

Step-Great Paw-paw to Jonny & Bobby.

Lee is also survived by one brother: Eugene bays of Leon

Also special fishing buddy & friend Tommy Thomas.

Lee retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital after 40 years of service. He also was an avid fisherman. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Virginia Kathleen Means

Virginia Kathleen Means, 94, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce James Means, parents, Walter and Rona Wright
and three grandchildren, April Louise Dunlap, Ronnie Allen Means, Timothy Allen Sloan, 3 sisters & 3 brothers.

Virginia was a homemaker, a charter member of Holley Memorial Baptist Church on Spring Hill Mountain and a lifelong resident of Kanawha County.

She is survived by her seven daughters, Erma June Dunlap, Patricia May Hopkins, Violet Elizabeth Eads (Clifford), Linda Joyce Anselment, Rebecca Ann Bowen, Carolyn Sue Johnson (Stanley), Dora Darlene Gillerlain; three sons, Rev. Walter Means (Jane), Bruce Dallas Means (Sally) and Jerry Wayne Means; 41 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman and Rev. Lee Hamrick officiating. Burial will be held in B.J. Means Memorial Cemetery, Spring Hill Mountain. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sam Henson and Kanawha Hospice for their wonderful care of mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.

Eugene Creech

Eugene Creech, 79, of South Charleston, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was a retired supervisor at Union Carbide Tech Center and a WWII Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Jimmy and Joey; daughter, Genie Weddington; four brothers, William, Wilmer, Donald and Alvin; one sister, Wanda Kaneday; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William “Billy” Belcher 33, of Yawkey died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at home .
Memorial services will be 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek. Burial will be at a later date in Pennsylvania.

Paige Loretta Levdowskie, one day old daughter of Nichole Workman and Todd Levdowskie of Alum Creek, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 in Beckley.

Carroll Louise Isaacs Tackett, 69, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at home after an apparent heart attack.

She was the oldest child of Cleston & Maxine Adams; a 1955 graduate of Duval High School; a former loan officer at Kanawha Valley Bank in Charleston with 12 years service & a Kindergarten Instructor for 20 years in Lincoln County. She was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Tackett.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.

Walter “Shorty” Owsley, 87, of 468 Estill Bottom, Wayland, Kentucky 41666, formerly of Lincoln County, widower of Lena Ruth Stowers Owsley, died Thursday, July 6, 2006 at his residence. He was born December 11, 1918 in Cliff, Kentucky, a son of the late James Lee Owsley and Susan Catherine Music Owsley. He was a retired Coal Miner; a World War II and Korean, Army Air Corp Veteran.

In addition to his parents, also preceding him in death were 3 Brothers: Russell, Frank & Issick Owsley; 3 Sisters: Ruby Blankenship, Ruth Lafferty & Glenda Mae Owsley.
