Daniel Shane “Spanky”Howell of McCorkle entered into eternal life on March 31, 2005 at the age of 26.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Royce Dunlap; mother, Kathy Dunlap; aunt, Beverly Sowards; and grandmother, Marcie Callahan.

He is survived by his fiancee, Angie Callahan; beloved and cherished children, son, Jacob Howell, and step-daughter, Sarah Callahan; sister, Cassy Miller; brother-in-law, Larry Miller; grandfather, Paul Griffith; four step-brothers; adopted parents, Michal and Melissa Wheeler; and a host of loving family and friends.

Spanky was a 1997 graduate of Duval High School, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 4, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with the Rev. Meddie Ray Dunlap officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.

Goldie D. Myers, 83, of Columbus, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the home of her daughter, Deloris Stover after a long illness.

Martin V. Brown, Jr. 73, of St. Albans, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.

Graveside service will be 5:30 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Lively Cemetery, Sod. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of arrangements.

Leonard F. “Lennie” Holstein, 72, of Ashford died Monday, March 21, 2005 at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was retired from Kinder Construction, Ashford.

He is survived by his brother, Quincy “Jack” Holstein of Harts; and special caregivers, Lee and Lou Estep of Ashford.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor F. A. Giles officiating.

Burial will be held in the Holstine Cemetery, Dartmont.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Serbert R. Vickers

Sebert R. Vickers, 94, of Yawkey, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 21, 2005 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi S. Vickers.

He was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas, Yawkey, a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church where he was a deacon and trustee, a charter member of the Duval Lions Club, former member of the Duval Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors and volunteered at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Mary Vickers of Yawkey; one granddaughter, Amy Michelle Cooper of Jacksonville, Florida; one great grandson, James Zachary Cooper.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Oshel Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Janet Gae McNeely Tyler

Janet Gae McNeely Tyler, 49, of Huntington, formerly of Griffithsville, died Monday, March 21, 2005 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio after a long illness.

She was a 1975 graduate of Duval High School and a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church, Proctorville, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Gail Pack and father, Lowell McNeely.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; son, Justin Tyler; mother, Eloise McNeely; sister, Gail Hager; brother, Carl McNeely; grandson, Garik Tyler.

Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Harlan Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles F. “Charlie” Miller, 54, of Alum Creek died Monday, March 21, 2005 at home after a short illness.
He was a retired painter from Union Carbide, South Charleston with 32 years service. He served six years with the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was a 1968 graduate of Duval High School, a member of the Elks Club, an avid NASCAR fan, hunter, and devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Katheryne “Daft’ Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Mindia; three step-children, Diane, Brian and Ashly Freeland; four sisters, Ann Pauley of Alum Creek, Linda Miller of Bridgeport, Janet Matthews of Huntington, Joy Daniels of Cross Lanes, three step-grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews, seven great nieces and nephews.
Service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral.

Misty Dawn Rock Boggs

Misty Dawn Rock Boggs, 27, of South Charleston, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at home after a short illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Boggs; twin daughters, Sierra and Tierra; parents, Billy and Hattie Rock; paternal grandmother, Olive Banks; maternal grandmother, Frankie Williams.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Pauley Cemetery, Tango. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Stanley Ervin “Ervie” Harrison, Jr., 46, of Alum Creek, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

He attended McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and was a student at West Virginia State University where he had made the dean’s list and was studying psychology.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Harrison and many other family members and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Dorothy L. “Dot” Peyton Oxley, 97, of Hurricane, formerly of South Charleston died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Carolyn and Bernard Dale Neely of Hurricane, after a long illness.
She was a member of the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clay Oxley; parents, Charles Albert and Susan Dudley Peyton and five sisters.

Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Jim Mathena of Charleston, Barbara and Raymond Cady of Elmira, NY; sister, Vinnie Norton; brother, Charles William Peyton nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Services will be 7:30 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene with Pastors John Anderson and Frank Goff officiating. Committal service and burial for all who wish to attend will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 PM prior to the evening service on Tuesday at the church.
