Rosie Mae Lovejoy, 77 of Spurlockville, died Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at Boone Memorial Hospital emergency room after a long illness.

She was a former owner and operator ofLovejoy’s Personal Care Home in Huntington. She attended Bulger Community Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Lovejoy.

She is survived by her: 3 Daughters: Lou Ellen Adkins of Alkol, WV; Willis Carol Smith of Spurlockville, WV; Tracy Lynn Smith of Spurlockville, W V;
1 Other Child: (she raised) Freddy Meade of FL; 1 Brother: Ervin Branham of Hamlin, W V; 5 Grandchildren: Tara Hager, Blaine Smith, Robin Smith, Savannah Smith & Jennifer Adkins 2 Step-Grandchildren: 1 Great Grandson: Dustin Cline Hager.

Services will beheld at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor K. D. Bragg officiating. Burial will be in Lovejoy Family Cemetery, Alkol. Friends may call on Friday, March 2, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

He was a member of Laborers Local 1363 and was a Baptist.

Joe Bennie Padilla, 74 of Alum Creek, died Monday, February 26, 2001 at home after a long illness.

He was a retired boiler maker and a member of local #667 boiler makers. He attended the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a charter member of the Alum Creek VFW Post #4768 and he served as district commander. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kacey Estep.

He is survived by his: Wife: Freda; 2 Daughters: Carmen Cochran of Alum Creek, WV; Mickey Gillenwater of Alum Creek, WV; 1 Son: Mark Padilla of Alum Creek, WV; 5 Grandchildren 5 Great-Grandchildren

Visitation will be held at the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM.

Services will be held at the church on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial with military grave side rites given by the Alum Creek VFW Post #4768 will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of the arrangements.

He was retired from FMC, an Army veteran of W WII , a lifelong resident of Lincoln County and last attended Eden Baptist Church, Yawkey, West Virginia.

He was a former employee of Berry Hill Country Club, Charleston, a life long resident of Lincoln county and a graduate of Duval High School.

Ralph “Mac” M. McClure, 83, of Charleston died Thursday, February 15, 2001 at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness.
He was a retired supervisor in order processing at Union Carbide, South Charleston, a member of Oakwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and various others positions of leadership. He was a volunteer at the Shepherd Center in Charleston. He was a WWII Army veteran.

He is survived by his: Wife: Lois McClure; 3 Daughters and Son-in-laws: Pam &Bob Vicars, Charleston, WV; Patty &Gib Hunter of Oxford, OH; Nancy &Bob Guttendorf, Ann Arbor, MI; 1 Sister: Wanda Neal of St. Albans, WV; 5 Grandchildren: Sara, Chris, Beth, Kathryn & Nathan.

Services will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church on Sunday, February 18, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lee White and Pastor David Bess officiating. Entombment will be in Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston. Friends may call on Saturday, February 17, 2001 from 4 to 6 PM at the church and one hour prior to service on Sunday. She was a retired Nurse Assistant for Dr. Loren Smith at Alum Creek. She was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ and served for 15 years as a volunteer at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.
