Herbert H. Paul, 97 of St. Albans, died Thursday, December 28, 2000 at Putnam General Hospital Emergency Room, Hurricane, after a long illness.

He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his: 1 Son: Herb O. Paul of St. Albans, WV; 1 Daughter: Elizabeth Morris of St. Albans, WV; 7 Grandchildren: Michael Morris, Ernest Paul II, Clifford Paul Jr., Lynn Smith, Retta Hyatt, Sara Delanardis, Tina Jarrett; 5 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans, on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Dr. John Hoskins officiating. Burial will beheld in Shepherd Cemetery, St. Albans. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of the arrangements.

He was member of Iron Workers Loca1301, Charleston, a Baptist and an Army Veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his: Wife: Mary V. Gillenwater; 2 Sons: Dennis A. Gillenwater of St. Albans, WV; Bill Gillenwater of Griffithsville, WV; 7 Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek, on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Cyphers and Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, December 29, 2000 at the funeral home.

Birdie A. Damron McMellon, 81 of Culloden, formerly of Yawkey, died Monday, December 25, 2000 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness.

She was a retired Postmaster at the Yawkey Post Office, a member of the Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey, and she sang with the McMellon Family Quartet.

She is survived by her: 1 Son: Darrell McMellon of Yawkey, WV; 1 Granddaughter and Caregiver: Dawna Allen of Yawkey, WV; 2 Great Grandsons: Michael and Joshua.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

He was a maintenance worker for 32 years at the University of Charleston and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Paul Hart, 54 of Charleston, died Monday, December 18, 2000 at WVU Medical Center after a short illness.

He was a native of Guyton, Georgia and a resident of Charleston, West Virginia since 1975. He was a Ph.D. chemist and graduate of the University of Georgia. He was an Associate Laboratory Director for the National Energy Technology Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Quality and Nuclear Security Morgantown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a Union Carbide Corporate R & D chemist from 1974-1992. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the American Nuclear Society’s Decommissioning, Decontamination and Reutilization Division. He was also a past president of the Charleston Lions Club, Young Republican Party, and the Kanawha County Republican Executive Committee. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Guyton, Georgia. He was a board member of the American Conservative Union.

He is survived by his: Wife: Judy; Mother: Frances Hart of Guyton, GA; 1 Brother: Gene Hart of Guyton, GA; 1 Sister: Pat Nutting of Guyton, GA.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2000 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 120 Noel Conway Road, Guyton, GA with Pastor Ohsiek officiating. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek in charge of arrangements.
